Round About Quilts Review

Round About Quilts
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those of you looking for something different, this book could be worth considering. You do however, require a special 9 degree wedge ruler to complete these quilts. There are 9 patterns in the book, most of which are medallion-style quilts. There are 2 colour combinations shown of each pattern. These are not traditional quilts but certainly interesting. I don't know that I would recommend them to a beginner unless they were quite an experienced sewer.

Magic Stack-n-Whack Quilts Review

Magic Stack-n-Whack Quilts
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a beginning quilter, I found this book to be an excellent guide for easily making kaleidoscope quilts without mirrors or extensive measuring and cutting. As a paper crafter as well, I found the technique great for collages.
The book starts out by explaining how to choose fabric and pick colors. It's a great plus that almost any fabric that has a repeat pattern can be used. Then, there are lots of great tips on rotary cutting, machine piecing & pressing.
Next, the stack-n-whack process is demonstrated in detail with step-by-step instructions and full-color photos. Fourteen different quilt projects, in 7 different styles follow. Illustrations are used instead of photos for these.
The quilts themselves are beautiful. There are large color photos of each one. In the back there are guides and patterns for all the projects as well as lesson plans for classes.

Not what I thought. It's very complicated. The instructions are daunting and I wouldn't even begin. I tried to give it to a quilting friend and she agreed. Definitely not for the timid.

The instructions are just so easy to follow. The peices sew together accurately. I have just stepped out of my comfort zone of square and rectangular quilts and am now embarking on making circular quilts and quilts with curves thanks to this book and the marvellous template I purchased to make circular quilts. I would encourage any one to try. It is so much easier than I thought. Don't know why I have waited so long......

Patchwork Minus Mathwork: A Quilter's Guide to Planning and Buying Fabric Without a Degree in Mathamatics Review

Patchwork Minus Mathwork: A Quilter's Guide to Planning and Buying Fabric Without a Degree in Mathamatics

I absolutely LOVE this book. I'm fairly new to quilting, so it's been a valuable asset to me in figuring out how much fabric I need for certain size blocks, borders, binding, batting, etc. It helps with setting blocks on point, and just about any way you'd want. Even though I'm new to this hobby, or I should say addiction, I think this book would be very valuable for even seasoned quilters. I've recommended it to everyone in my quilt guild.

I have the original version of this book. It is the "go to" book in my quilt library. I never leave reviews on books but just had to for this book. I am so glad they brought this book back into print. My friends were always calling me and asking me to read them certain pages. You will not be sorry you bought this book. It will help to ensure you are the right amount of fabric. If you are a quilter who like to make your quilts a little bigger or smaller than the patterns then it is definately for you. If you are a quilt designer it is a must have! If you quilt ANYTHING it is a book worth buying. Don't hesitate and then let me know what you think!!
