(More customer reviews)I've used this product about 4 times now. Just when I think it's not working, I stop and realize, 'Hey, the ouchiness is gone!' The pain relief sneaks up on me, probably because SpeedGel doesn't cause a hot feeling, cold feeling, or a tingly feeling. It gets to work quietly & effectively. It takes approx. 15 minutes for me to get pain relief which so far has lasted up to 3 hours.
I'm using it on the back of my thigh. SpeedGel is easy to apply. You don't need much. It is in gel form; I think it feels a bit sticky. There's no smell. You're instructed to apply it up to 4 times a day.
I'm going to try it on my thumb which has been getting painful when I crochet. I'll continue to update my review with any findings.
SpeedGel is an "anti-inflammatory and pain relief gel that carries active ingredients directly through the skin, providing targeted treatment and starting the recovery process on contact." It claims to "reduce & even reverse the effects of acute injuries & trauma, bruising & inflammation, sore muscles & arthritis".
In case you're wondering, menthol products work in a different way. Menthol used as a topical analgesic can provide short-term relief. "Menthol doesn't reach all the way to the muscle, but it does stimulate skin sensors to ease the pain." Menthol works by 'distracting' the nerves because they're sending menthol's heat/chilling message to the brain. The nerves can't carry the menthol message and the sore-muscle message at the same time.
