(More customer reviews)Over the course of practicing jiujitsu, I have used about six different knee pads. Quality-wise, I think this is the best knee pad so far. It is thin and light so it takes nothing away from your knee's mobility, range or speed. It is padded enough to protect against "gentle" knee slams against padded surfaces common in sports like judo, wrestling or jiujitsu. It is machine washable and can be reverse-used, if you prefer red color. I have had it for about a month now without a single thread coming off, so I think it is very durable as well. Another review complained about the lack of air circulation but I have never had an issue with it. In my opinion, a person experiencing circulation issues with this knee pad would likely have those issues with any other ones in the market.
This is a "thin" type knee pad designed primarily to alleviate light impacts and allow heat retention to reduce sports injury. This is not a "front shield" type knee pad designed for heavy-weight or high-impact protection. So while it is ideal for grappling sports, it may not be suitable if you need to put a lot of weigh on your knees for a long periods of time (laying bricks, welding walls, etc.).
Finally, the description does not make it entirely clear but it is only one knee pad per order. So it is slightly more expensive than some other kneepads, but I think the quality makes it worthwhile.
