I've been trying to read more christian fiction lately and teen fiction in particular. I came upon this book in the library and was suprised to find out how interesting it was. I was sucked into it from the beginning which was very pleasing and amazing seeing how the first few chapters the main Chara Sierra cant even open her eyes!
The characters all felt very real to me, which was probably my favorite part seeing how I feared christianity might come off very fakey but it didn't. The author gives us a main chara who knows nothing of God and a very lovable old woman who slowly shares Grace with her roommate. And there's Sierra's younger sister of course, who will make you laugh out loud! :D
I'd hardly call it fluffy, but rather a slow and real process of a normal girl learning about God. It takes a long time till Sierra gets it. But I dont think it could have been too much better. In the end, It was slightly surprising to see that Sierra is willing to forgive her friends. At first, it seemed unreal, but actually I saw it was quite the opposite. It was REAL. Because Sierra grows tired of the lies she's become apart of, she decides to quit altogether. Although the book ends feeling slightly cut-off, it only makes me eager to read the next. An all around good read, if you're looking for christian fiction.
