When I told him that there was a comic book series by Kovalic (most all of the Munchkin artwork is done by John Kovalic), he begged to read them. He has read all the collections including this one. Being a long-time gamer myself, I read them as well (Like I needed an excuse).
John Kovalic has captured the essence of gaming in these comics. He relays the nuances of how gamers relate and what they think of each other. His awareness of all things "Gamer" has allowed this quirky little comic to capture the hearts and laughs of gamers around the world.
If you are a gamer. If you are in a relationship with a gamer. If you are a Muskrat. If you are in a relationship with a Muskrat. Read these comics. They are hilarious!
My wife wants to try the recipe for Igor-Bars just once. The sweets-overloaded recipe is also contained in this book!

It covers brief theory of dynamic signal analysis (chapter 2), vibration concepts (chapter 3), transducer measurement considerations, digital frequency analyzer, vibration exciters, and vibration testing. However, students may find that the theory presented in chapters 2 and 3 'too brief' to understand and need to refer to other books. For (new) experimental scientiests in the field of vibration, the book is very valuable since it reveals theoretical background of vibration sensors, exciters, and their effects on speciments dynamics.

What works:
1. Lots of advice, starting from the basics.
2. Tons of feedback from Admissions Committee Members
3. Essay samples
What doesnt:
1. Essay samples are limited to people who were leaders, consultants, etc etc. I dont believe these form the majority, Instead, I think the majority applicants are engineers, investment bankers and people from Asia. So the examples should have been chosen to fit that demographic too. I am more interested to see how an engineer represented himself well to get into a B-school, rather than read an essay of someone who was in the Army asa Lieutenant. It doesnt help much by publishing essays of people who're inherently different because of a very rare background.
2. Nothing much has really changed over the 2002 edition of the book. So, if you have the old one, I dont think this is worth buying. You could just use the library.

(More customer reviews)Have contemplated the idea of doing an MBA for a while, so came across this and thought it may give me a good basic idea of what will be covered. While the book covers a lot of ground, I found it way too basic. I mean, if you are at the point where you are considering an MBA, a reasonable base level of management understanding (either from undergrad or practical experience) can be somewhat assumed. This reads more like 'beginning business for dummies' or some such - well below 'mastering' business for the sort of person who may be considering MBA courses. Anyhow, it was well written, covered a lot of areas of business at a surface level, but certainly didn't provide me with a lot of new depth on any business areas.

(More customer reviews)This book is riddled with errors - some typos, miscalculations in math sections, and some totally wrong answers. In addition, the questions are pretty basic. Other books I have looked at give you more difficult questions, which in my opinion, is far more helpful. I checked this book out from the library. I'm just using it for practice on the writing portion by looking at their essay prompts.

(More customer reviews)I was interested in going back to school to pursue a PhD in a business administration specialty such as accounting or finance due to the fact that after 5 years I felt my career was becoming monotonous and I had the grades and GMAT scores to get into a decent PhD program. Before reading this book, I thought it was something I was definitely going to do, in fact I would say I was 90%-95% certain. After reading this book, I'd say I was close to 98% certain I did not want to go back and pursue a PhD. This book explains what exactly a Phd program entails, as well as what can be expected in the world of academic research/teaching post-Phd. As I would be leaving the corporate/private world and was primarily interested in getting a PhD to enter the world of academia the nature of the academic world post PhD was of primary interest to me, as its often little discussed. Based on the information contained in the book, I realized that the academic world would probably be no more fulfilling to me and offer no better lifestyle to me than the private corporate world, and as such it wouldn't be worth the time or effort of obtaining a PhD.
The only shortfall I saw in the book is the author speaks of his experience earning a PhD at the Wharton School, which is one of the top programs in the nation. I was curious to know if the experience of obtaining a PhD is similar at a smaller less prestigious university less focused on research and more on teaching. Similarly, I was also curious to know what the experience of academia is like at a small liberal arts college or non-prestigious teaching university.
