(More customer reviews)I have been suffering from increasingly frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs) for some time, and have always had antibiotics prescribed. On one occasion, I couldn't get to a doctor right away, and the symptoms were unbearable--frequent urination, constant urge to urinate, and general discomfort. I had Uricalm on hand at home, having taken it once along with the antibiotics, but was turned off by the crazy orange my pee turned as a result of it. I took a couple of Uricalm right before going to sleep, and when I woke up the next morning, I urinated normally (except that it was orange, from the Uricalm), and continued to feel fine as long as I took the recommended dosage. I stopped after two days, and my UTI seemed to have cleared up, so I didn't see a doctor.
I'd like to knock off one star due to my own experience, but that would be unfair to Uricalm. Still, I'd like people who read this review to realize that there could be a big con to taking this product, namely that in my case, my UTI didn't go away completely. Unlike after treatment with antibiotics, even now, a couple of months after my last UTI, every time I need to urinate, the urge to do so comes upon me quickly. This is different to when I have a UTI, in that the urge does not arise when I only need to pee a little or not at all, but only when I actually need to go. It's annoying because one second I'm fine, and all of a sudden I am doing the pee dance and have to drop everything and find the nearest bathroom. Bear in mind that I am only in my twenties.
Now I am suffering from yet another UTI, and I am only taking Uricalm to relieve the symptoms until I can get to a doctor. I will probably never know whether I would have had the same long-term response to antibiotics as I have to Uricalm, but I would still caution users to see a doctor if possible and not rely solely on Uricalm, especially if you suffer regularly from UTIs.
Anyway, this stuff WORKS. I wouldn't say it works instantly, but perhaps about as long as it takes you to urinate the water you downed the Uricalm with. I find the discomfort and urgency are relieved within an hour of taking the first dose. Also, if you're like me and have a hard time taking pills, these ones are quite small and go down pretty easily without leaving an unpleasant aftertaste at the back of your throat.
Note that your pee will be insanely orange, even red (if you haven't had a lot of water), and it can stain bedsheets, underwear... even the toilet bowl might need a couple of flushes and possibly a good scrub. So make sure you have some pantie liners and grungy underwear on hand. This is the only super annoying thing about this product, and others like it. But it's cheap and relieves symptoms quickly.
