When we first started giving this to our daughters, both of them would fight us, as they did with anything we tried to force in their mouths besides a bottle/pacifier.
However, before long both of them realized that this made their gums feel better and would open their mouths so we could apply it. My girls are almost 1 year and if they're getting fussy & chewing on everything, they actually will stop crying when they see me get this tube.
This is not thick, it is pretty thin...I like that because I don't always know what spot in their gums are hurting so it is easy to spread all over.
***CAUTION***If you are just starting out giving this to your baby make sure you are VERY careful to rub it into the gums and not let extra gel go into the babys mouth. During the beginning times of giving this to my daughters, my husband was trying to put some on my daughters gums but some of it must have gotten onto her tongue and to the back of her throat. She started choking & kept choking & was drooling like crazy. I had to turn her on her side & kept suctioning her mouth out. That was the only time it ever happened but I just want everyone to know to be extra careful when first applying this to a baby.
