My ENT told me today, when I complained how expensive SinuSurf is, that its active ingredient is the same as in Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and that I can make my own with a solution of 3 parts baby shampoo to 100 parts of distilled water. I thought SinuSurf smelled familiar.
This is a dandy solution to SinuSurf being so overpriced. I am using it and it works very well. I had little effect from use of twice-daily saline sinus rinses to deal with a sinus infection which produced noxious green slime drip from my nose, along with an awful smell, UNTIL I started using SinuSurf.
Adding two squirts of SinuSurf to 4 ounces of saline solution immediately started clearing the slime out of my sinuses. The awful smell went away after my first use of SinuSurf, and some of the slime comes out with each saline rinse. Plus I had some crusted green mucus come out the first two times I used SinuSurf. It reallly does work as advertised.
It's just too expensive. So make your own. You'll still need to measure two squirts for each rinse though, so you'll need a Sinusurf bottle for that, and have to buy a replacement every once in a while.
