Mack's AquaBlock Earplugs, 2 pr Review

(More customer reviews)I have tried foam ear plugs of various types, wax, Doc's Pro-plugs (vented) and none of them work as well as these little purple things. One big advantage is that if it leaks, or if you need to take them out after you have been in the water, you can put them right back in, unlike the wax or foam plugs.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Water Resistant Sunscreen Cream, SPF 15 3.4 fl oz (100 ml) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this sunscreen after reading about its improved protection against both UV A and UV B.
I have no complaints about the sun protection - it seems to work, though of course a true test of protection is long-term sun damage avoidance, and not from a few days' use.
But I dont like the texture of the cream. First, it is not a lotion but a cream. By which I mean its semi-solid and does not blend well on the face. I tried using a lotion moisturizer blended with this sunscreen to make it blend better, but its not easy.
Second, the sunscreen is very whitish and looks that way even after applying very little of it. So if you are somewhat tanned and apply this cream it will show up in whitish streaks on your face that do not sink in.
I also tried applying mineral makeup on top of this to reduce the white-out look, but the camouflage does not work too well.
Third, the sunscreen is not marked as 'non-comedogenic (does not block pores) so that might be an important factor for you to consider if you tend to have large pores, whiteheads or blackheads.
Summary: if you are going to spend a long time in the sun and want a high performance sunscreen, use this one. If you want something more mild for daily use, try out the SPF 15 version of this same brand, or look elsewhere.

Mack's Ear Seals Earplugs 1 pr Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a pair of Mack's Ear Seals a few years ago at a local drug store, and they are some of the best reusable earplugs you can buy -- certainly the best I've ever used. They have a neon yellow rubber base topped with four graded silicone flanges. From tip to end, they're about one inch long.
The NRR (noise reduction rating) of these earplugs is 27 decibels, and man, do they work well. I wear them primarily at concerts and find that they allow me to hear the band clearly, but they reduce the noise level to a comfortable volume.
I also wear these earplugs while traveling (a godsend in planes, trains, and youth hostels), and sometimes while sleeping at home to block out the really loud chirping birds that have nested in the tree outside our bedroom window. These earplugs cancel out small sounds entirely.
The grippy silicone flanges keep these earplugs in place. The fit is pretty comfortable, much more so than I find memory foam earplugs to be, and I have average-sized ear canals. (For those with smaller ear canals, I would recommend Etymotic's Baby Blues Earplugs.) Wearing Mack's Ear Seals while sleeping works fine for me because I tend to sleep on my back; however, those who sleep on their sides or stomachs may not find these earplugs comfortable against a pillow because the yellow ends stick out past the ear.
Mack's Ear Seals are made of silicone and rubber, so they are perfect for those with latex allergies and are waterproof. They come in a clear rectangular snap case, which is handy for traveling. In addition to the plugs, you also get a thin detachable cord. I have personally never used the cord, but I see how it could be useful for sporting events, etc. Recommended!

(More customer reviews)My audiologist "yelled" at me for using cotton swabs to dry my ears after showering. She recommended Mack's Ear Dryer highly, so I bought it. It really works! It arrived already charged, and after many uses I still haven't had to recharge it. It is great at drying out my ears; warm air blows the water out and when it feels cool, the ear is dry. Each press of the button gives enough warm air to dry one ear. It has 5 different color covers, so the whole family can use it. I highly recommend it.
