(More customer reviews)I hate cold syrups of any kind because they taste so disgusting. As far as artificial flavors go, orange is one of my favorites, so I decided to brake down and try Delsym because they seemed to have the lowest price per dose for something that was strictly a cough suppressant. Every time I take a cold medicine with both cough suppressant and expectorant in it, while only having cough issues (such as for the cough that lingers after a cold) I end up feeling incredibly dry in my chest, even if I compromise and take only half a dose. Anyway, I thought about getting the Robitussin CoughGels, Liqui-gels 20 ea, but they seemed expensive for 10 doses - now I wish I'd decided differently. For starters, the Delsym could definitely taste worse, but it still left me with that utterly disgusted look on my face and the need to chase this with food and water to get rid of the aftertaste. I've taken this a few different times now, and have decided that it doesn't work. It may have decreased my urge to cough slightly for an hour or two after it got in my system, but it is not enough to help me sleep through the night, or really get to sleep for that matter. I'm writing this review at 4:30 AM because I just had a coughing spell. (I probably took the Delsym around midnight.) I now have a sore throat and a hurting side from coughing so much, and nothing to show for the $11 I wasted on this stuff. From much of what I've found on the internet, the Dextromethorphan Polistirex in Delsym doesn't work for a lot of people; it's such a shame that it's so hard to find Dextromethorphan HBr (which does seem to work for me) as a single active ingredient in anything because there are so many people out there who abuse it.
