Salus Haus Alpenkraft Herbal Cough Syrup 8.5-Ounces Review

Salus Haus Alpenkraft Herbal Cough Syrup 8.5-Ounces
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a professional voice actress and, since my voice is my instrument, I have to take the very best care of it. A friend of mine in Nova Scotia was always going on about Alpenkraft syrup. I couldn't locate it at any natural food store around here so FINALLY after suffering through a terribly cold/cough situation where the over-the-counter cough syrup was drying me out to such an extent that it was doing more harm than good to my voice, I relented and searched Amazon for the Alpenkraft and ... lo and behold ... there it was! I ordered it ... it came quickly ... I started taking it and I'll never go back to anything else. It is WONderful. Soothing ... non-drying ... calming. I get a great night's sleep and whenever I begin to cough or feel a bit of scratchiness in my throat, I take a dose and within minutes I'm feeling oh so much better. This is a product I will always, ALWAYS have on hand. Thanks ... it's a terrific product.

Source Naturals Wellness Cough Syrup with Wild Cherry Bark, 8 Ounce (Pack of 2) Review

Source Naturals Wellness Cough Syrup with Wild Cherry Bark, 8 Ounce (Pack of 2)
Average Reviews:

Terrific results for me and anyone I gave this to try (so far I've treated 6-7 people with it), works even for smokers!
If you follow instructions (adults: 2 tsp x every 4 hrs + 10-15 min of no strong flavor in your mouth before and after intake), you should expect to stop coughing after second-third use, depending on your condition. I was coughing non-stop for almost two weeks before I stumbled upon this wonder-syrup. I found the best way is to take it before and after sleep.
If you are a smoker (one of my friends is), you may see a delay in results, but nevertheless the results are there! Another good idea is to take it along with Wellness Formula from Source Naturals. Just be careful with dosage of that product.
Would I recommend this product to my friends and family??? Are you kidding? I already did and everyone is absolutely grateful for it. Extremely good thing to have before the winter season starts. So far 100% positive results.
UPDATE (2/2/2011): After some time I noticed it's effectiveness has gone down. Not sure what to attribute this to yet, but that's the fact. Switched to also 100% natural ColdBuster warming Syrup.

Vicks VapoRub Topical Ointment Review

Vicks VapoRub Topical Ointment
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've just about given up trying to keep my feet and heels from looking like something that belong on a T Rex. For years, I have struggled with the soles of my feet and my heels being so dry, they crack deeply and bleed so walking and wearing shoes is painful. Not to mention the pantyhose I've destroyed over the years. I've tried doctors, medications, vitamins, topical ointments, lotions, vaseline, sandpaper, dremel sanding wheels, drywall sanding pads followed by lotions, professional pedicures - you name it, I've tried it and failed. A few weeks back I spotted my old jar of vicks in the cabinet and decided, what the heck? Plastered some on my feet and heels after morning shower, on with the socks and sneakers, and followed this routine for 2 weeks. I have the sweetest feet now!!! I can't remember a time I wasn't mortified to show my feet in sandles, open shoes/heels, or walk barefoot in the presence of others. Nor can I recall a time when my feet didn't hurt like heck when I walked. This product is a bit expensive but the torture I've endured all my life with this issue and the extreme relief and joy I now have because of it, you can bet I'll have this on hand at all times.
October 2010 - I broke down and tried that product being advertised on tv that is suppose to work wonders for dry, cracked heels and feet. I found it on sale so went nuts and got 4 and let me tell you...they are going to be here a very, very long time. They do work, but only if you apply them a minimum of twice/day every day. Skip a day and you're feet and heels are once again doomed. So I'm back to using my reliable, dependable and efficient Vicks on my feet never to stray again.

Vicks NyQuil Multi-Symptom Cold/Flu Relief- Original Flavor 10 Fl Oz Review

Vicks NyQuil Multi-Symptom Cold/Flu Relief- Original Flavor 10 Fl Oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like most other cold and allergy sufferers, I was miserable to find that Vicks reformulated Nyquil, my "go to" medication in the event of a bad cold, to remove pseudoephedrine, just so they could keep their product on the "over the counter" shelves. The new formula did not work for me at all. Worse, the packaging was practically identical to the original packaging, so it took me a while -- and $$$$ -- to realize that the REASON my beloved Nyquil wasn't working anymore was because the primary active ingredient had been removed. I was displeased, to say the least. And even more annoyed at the time to find that Vicks wasn't even OFFERING a version with the original formula that could be obtained from the pharmacist if you were willing to jump through the hoops of providing an ID and signing legal forms.
Thank you, Congress. I doubt taking effective cold meds away from non-junkies has done jack squat to solve the meth problem, but you sure have succeeded in making the rest of us miserable.
Anyway, I have another cold now, and went to my local pharmacy yesterday to show my ID and pick up some Drixoral -- only to find that since the last time I bought it, the company that makes it has taken it off the market to "reformulate" it, according to the pharmacist, since Drixoral sales had dropped so precipitously since it was removed from regular drugstore shelves and stuck behind the pharmacist's counter. Not AGAIN, I thought, and actually found myself wondering idly if I could get hold of some meth and back-formulate a cold medication that would WORK from it.
BUT THEN!!!! I happened to spy what looked like bottles of Nyquil on the shelves behind the pharmacy counter! Could it be, I thought, that Vicks had added psuedoephedrine back to their product and was making the "real" stuff available to its customers again? I asked the pharmacist, "Wait, is that REAL Nyquil? With pseudoephedrine?" She acknowledged that it was. It is "NyQuil-D." I promptly bought two bottles (all that I am allowed to buy at one time in CA).
I haven't compared the ingredients list on Nyquil D to the ingredients on the original Nyquil yet, but I can confirm that pseudoephedrine is back in at least this version. THANK GOODNESS. I will stand in line, miserable, sneezing, coughing, hacking, and passing out, to buy something that WORKS.
I don't know when Vicks started marketing the "-D" stuff. I'm surprised they didn't contact me and others who wrote angry letters to them when they first reformulated their product to let us know they were selling an effective remedy again... but never mind!
Pass on "regular" Nyquil. Ask your pharmacist for the "-D" version.

Chloraseptic Phenol/Oral Anesthetic Sore Throat Spray Review

Chloraseptic Phenol/Oral Anesthetic Sore Throat Spray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used Chloraseptic Sore Throat Spray for years. I like the cherry flavor and it soothes the pain of a sore throat easily. Just unwrap the protective plastic covering the top of the bottle, open your mouth and spray two or three times on your sore throat. You can spray up to five times if you wish; but I find that usually after three sprays my throat feels better. You can use this product as often as every two hours to take away that awful sore throat pain. Amazon notes that it works well with canker sores, too. It is alcohol free, aspirin free and sugar free--great!
If you sore throat is persistent after two days I recommend you see your doctor rather than continue the use of this spray. You may need a prescription to get better.
I recommend that you not swallow this spray. That could make you sick to your stomach. I recommend spitting it out after you have finished spraying. You will still get the full effect.
Overall, Chloraseptic sore throat spray does the trick if you have a scratchy sore throat that is not part of a more serious infection or medical problem. Ask your doctor if you can indeed use it to mange any canker sore pain or discomfort caused by minor dental procedures. Use it as directed and it should help you. If your throat stays sore after three days you should see a doctor.

BUCKLEY`S MIXTURE COUGH LIQUID Review

BUCKLEY`S MIXTURE COUGH LIQUID
Average Reviews:

Buckley's isn't known for its taste but let me tell you something. If your chest is locked tight, and your cough just about kills you, this stuff will immediately open you up and keeps working for hours. Its one of those grin and bare it medicines when you take it, but with an "OMG that really works!" response after you have.
This is the ONLY cough medicine on my shelf this winter. The price on Amazon it great and I like that I can buy a double pack to save on shipping.

Zicam Cold Remedy Plus Sore Throat Relief Lozenges- 25 Count
Average Reviews:

In contrary to the reviewer above, I dislike the spray and the chewables because they leave a much stronger and longer lasting chalky nasty taste in my mouth. To me, the Lozenges have a pleasant taste and the chalky aftertaste is much less and shorter. Of course the best option was the nasal gel but unfortunately it is no longer available.

Cold-Eeze Cold Remedy Lozenges, Sugar Free 18 ea
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a college student, and the first morning after winter break I got a horrible sore throat. I stopped into Walgreens to get some cough drops. I was just going to get the six pack of inexpensive Halls, but I saw these and thought that I'd give it a chance. They worked so great. I sore throat was mostly gone within like two hours. All cough drops should work like these. They don't have that crappy taste that most cough drops have either.

Average Reviews:

I love cold eeze, and have used it in several formulations (lozenges, these sugar free unflavored tablets as well as the chocolate mint flavor tablet). I prefer the unflavored ones, but the last several times I've ordered them (fulfilled by [...]), I've gotten the chocolate mint ones. As far as I'm concerned, they still work fine, but my wife will only take the unflavored ones, so she isn't happy I can't get these unflavored tablets.

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (5 oz.) Review

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (5 oz.)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I hate cold syrups of any kind because they taste so disgusting. As far as artificial flavors go, orange is one of my favorites, so I decided to brake down and try Delsym because they seemed to have the lowest price per dose for something that was strictly a cough suppressant. Every time I take a cold medicine with both cough suppressant and expectorant in it, while only having cough issues (such as for the cough that lingers after a cold) I end up feeling incredibly dry in my chest, even if I compromise and take only half a dose. Anyway, I thought about getting the Robitussin CoughGels, Liqui-gels 20 ea, but they seemed expensive for 10 doses - now I wish I'd decided differently. For starters, the Delsym could definitely taste worse, but it still left me with that utterly disgusted look on my face and the need to chase this with food and water to get rid of the aftertaste. I've taken this a few different times now, and have decided that it doesn't work. It may have decreased my urge to cough slightly for an hour or two after it got in my system, but it is not enough to help me sleep through the night, or really get to sleep for that matter. I'm writing this review at 4:30 AM because I just had a coughing spell. (I probably took the Delsym around midnight.) I now have a sore throat and a hurting side from coughing so much, and nothing to show for the $11 I wasted on this stuff. From much of what I've found on the internet, the Dextromethorphan Polistirex in Delsym doesn't work for a lot of people; it's such a shame that it's so hard to find Dextromethorphan HBr (which does seem to work for me) as a single active ingredient in anything because there are so many people out there who abuse it.

Cold-Eeze Homeopathic, Cold Drop Lozenges, 18 ea Review

Cold-Eeze Homeopathic, Cold Drop Lozenges, 18 ea
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using these for many years and I always have them stocked in case of an impending cold. When taken at the first signs of a cold (a little stuffy or a dry scrathy throat) these are tops.
I have found that at times my *impending* cold never materializes (A HUGE plus). You do need to take these every few hours from the first sign of illness for them to be effective so keeping some in stock is important. They don't seem to work once you have a *full-blown* cold but supposedly they will lessen the severity.
I do wish that they were sugar free. These days I try not to eat sugar in any form and so eating these gives me a bit of pause. But I have to say that they have worked so well for me for the years that I take them, that I just keep doing it...sugar or no sugar. I find the taste to be fair. Definitely tolerable altho my son will not eat them, he thinks they are not very good.
In general I do find these to be a bit on the expensive side but I can't argue witht he results I have gotten. Any cold I do not get makes the price well worth it!

Vicks Dayquil Nyquil Cough Relief Liquid Combination Package 1 ea Review

Vicks Dayquil Nyquil Cough Relief Liquid Combination Package 1 ea
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of THOSE products that we keep on our shelf all the time. The Dayquil version is only the cough suppressant so if you're just coughing, get this set. If you're looking for a decongestant too, you'll have to get the regular dayquil. I think that the only way to get rid of a cold is to use both of these products together, along with gargling with Cepacol. With that combo, colds disappear a LOT faster, at least that's been our results. The Dayquil doesn't make you drowsy and it really does suppress your cough. If you need an expectorant, add a bag of McDonld's french fries and a large Coke to the combination and that will definitely do the trick! :) Highly recommend!

Dayquil/Nyquil-Vicks Cold/Flu Relief Medication, 60 Liquid Gels Review

Dayquil/Nyquil-Vicks Cold/Flu Relief Medication, 60 Liquid Gels
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not sure what it is about my personal body chemistry, but I am unable to take Dayquil. Whenever I attempt to take it my symptoms will get better, but I'll get such a terrible case of medicine head (lightheaded, unable to focus, disconnected feeling) that sometimes I'll honestly prefer the symptoms of the cold & flu to it. I'm the only one in my family with this response- other people in the house have taken the same medication from the same package & not had any adverse reactions to it.
Nyquil on the other hand, I have no problem with. It works great & I usually get a decent night's sleep from it. (Although it does seem to be a light sleep filled with the strangest dreams.) Nyquil is one of my favorite cold & flu medicines for when the symptoms get really bad, as I can rely on it to make me feel better the next morning & help me stay asleep.
If you don't have bad reactions to Dayquil, this really is a fantastic combo: both in one package!

Chestal Cough Syrup 8.45 oz. 8.45 Ounces Review

Chestal Cough Syrup 8.45 oz. 8.45 Ounces
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have 2 young boys and a childcare, so coughs happen several times a year in our home. However, they always disipate quickly thanks to Chestal, which we've used for the past 3 years. Honey has always been touted as a wonderful soother for sore throats and coughs, and that's probably its most effective ingredient. However, we've tried other natural cough syrups and always come back to Chestal as it's incredibly effective and works quickly; our kids recover completely in less than 2 days after we give them Chestal. They've never complained about it but actually ask for it when they have a cough! Even my childcare families allow me to give it to their children when they have coughs; their children recover quickly, too. One the 2 occasions when I gave our son cough syrup during his bronchitis bout (almost 4 years ago), it never seemed to work and I felt guilty giving it to him. I don't get sick often, so I can't attest to my own personal experience, but my husband said it soothes his sore throats, too. If you want an effective, natural, and reasonably-priced cough syrup, look no further than this!

Halls Plus Cough Suppressant with Medicine Center Drops with Cherry Bag - 25 Drops/Bag, 12/Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Every so often, I get one of those wretched colds, complete with sore throat, cough, and so on. This is one of my tools against the symptoms associated with the cold. Is it a placebo? Or not? I'm not sure. But it does appear to help.
In the end, this product does help relieve a sore threat somewhat (no cure, no miracle--but modest relief). Just so, it modestly helps reduce the odds of coughing fits. Not great; this is no cure all. Still and all, it does provide some relief.
Over the counter, this doesn't cost a great deal and it seems to provide some relief. That's good enough for me!
