Theraflu Daytime Severe Cold & Cough, 24 Coated Caplets (Pack of 2) Review

(More customer reviews)One of my biggest pet peeves with a lot of daytime cold & flu medications is that while it does do pretty much what they say they do, they leave you with this big case of "medicine head" where you feel pretty much like a zombie. Dayquil is the worst of these offenders, with Tylenol coming in as a close second.
Out of desperation, I tried Theraflu. I've tried their nighttime medicine & liked it for the most part, so I figured this should be good. I really do like this medicine. It worked as it said it did, with my cough & cold all but disappearing. (I still had a bit of a runny nose, but you have to figure that I was *really* bad off to begin with.)
But the best thing of all? No medicine head! I could actually think & *gasp* I actually felt safe taking this before I set out to drive, something I would never think of doing if I'd taken Dayquil. So yeah- if you want something that works pretty well & doesn't leave you with a medicine head feeling, I'd go with this stuff.

(More customer reviews)Ok folks, I know it's antisocial but I never write these things, I mean never. But this product is almost unbelievable in its efficacy. I take vitamins, but that is about the extent of my confidence in holistic health remedies; this product however is something else. I have been using it on and off for about 2 years and I would say, on average, it cuts the length and severity of my cold symptoms in half. Many is the time that it has nipped an incipient cold in the bud so there were no symptoms to measure. You have to take it early and often. Also, it tastes absolutely disgusting - there's just no beating around the bush on that. I highly recommend it.

It's actually some type of South African geranium. There are no side effects and it will kick a cold to the curb. Best to take at the very first symptoms. If you take it past the second day of a cold, you will still suffer, but not as much. I highly recommend this stuff. I have not had a cold in 2.5 years and I used to get them at least 4 times a year! They would always lead to bronchitus or sinus infections but no more! It is nothing short of a miracle.....tastes bad but works great!!!

a) I don't believe I got over the cold any faster.
b) It removed cold symptoms very effectively.
c) It had an odd side effect on my voice.
In the end, Zicam wasn't very useful for my purpose, because it sort of dried out my voice. I'm not sure exactly how to describe the effect. However, I will probably buy it again, because it is very nice not to hack and sniff around people. Instead of dragging around a plethora of kleenex, cough drops, etc, you will carry around a few white gum balls. They do just fine in a pocket - no melting or residue or nasty things like that.
Nobody will know you have a cold, but you must continue to eat them according to the directions until the cold is gone, or the symptoms will return. And honestly, the taste isn't as bad as some reviews state. It's better than that medicine cherry cough syrup.

If you follow instructions (adults: 2 tsp x every 4 hrs + 10-15 min of no strong flavor in your mouth before and after intake), you should expect to stop coughing after second-third use, depending on your condition. I was coughing non-stop for almost two weeks before I stumbled upon this wonder-syrup. I found the best way is to take it before and after sleep.
If you are a smoker (one of my friends is), you may see a delay in results, but nevertheless the results are there! Another good idea is to take it along with Wellness Formula from Source Naturals. Just be careful with dosage of that product.
Would I recommend this product to my friends and family??? Are you kidding? I already did and everyone is absolutely grateful for it. Extremely good thing to have before the winter season starts. So far 100% positive results.
UPDATE (2/2/2011): After some time I noticed it's effectiveness has gone down. Not sure what to attribute this to yet, but that's the fact. Switched to also 100% natural ColdBuster warming Syrup.

(More customer reviews)I read the previous reviews and agree the taste is bad. However, after 10 years of using this product I can say it works better than any pill. The reason is that fluids mixed properly with medicine and sugar will always have more efficient transit to intracellular space for proper cellular absorption. This is why hospitals infuse meds and dextrose IV solutions in the ER. You can add sugar, lemon, tea, honey, etc to this med as far as I know. Mix it only in hot water because its very granular... if you mix it with warm water then half of the meds will remain at the bottom of the glass unmixed; and that taste is potent, it would be like chewing noncoated raw aceitominophen tablets. I think this theraflu is also the one with 1000mg aceitominophen whereas the others have lower dosage. I also recommend you take this the moment you begin to feel sick. The packets are easy to travel with but they are sealed very tight and cannot be opened with your hand! You will need something sharp to cut the packet open... scissors, pen, or key will do the job.
Trust me... pain is you friend... deal with the taste and drink it down in 10 minutes and then go rest.
If you happen to live in Japan and are ordering this product... find a vending machine with hot ocha, spill out half of it, pour 1 packet in it, shake it up, and drink it down while riding the shinkansen or something. gambatte kudasai

(More customer reviews)I've used Vicks VapoRub every night for last 30 or so years. Yes, that's right--I've used it since I was a little girl!
Now, when I was little, I put it IN my nostrils (which you're not supposed to do). Now, I just apply it UNDER my nose to help me breathe at night.
Why I've needed it, I hadn't known--until recently. Apparently, I have a slightly deviated septum AND I have non-allergic rhinitis which mimics actual allergies (I test negative for allergies).
So while Sudafed has helped in the past and now, Nasonex, Benadryl and Astelin, I'm still using good ol' Vicks VapoRub to help me get a good night sleep! And the good thing is that these jars seem to last FOREVER. I probably only have to buy it once every year or two!
Of course, VapoRub is also good chest colds and vaporizers--but ya know, I never used it for that, even on my son! (He's rarely sick).

Well, I was skeptical but they really seemed to help my sinuses clear up. They sat in the bathroom cupboard, forgotten most of the time. Then I'd be sick and remember to take them. (More customer reviews)This product is similar to Vicks Vapo Rub but I feel Watkins Menthol Camphor works better and smells much better than the Vicks. My stuffy nose clears real fast and keeps me soothed through the night when I use this product while I am sick.
I also rub this ointment on my hands in the winter time when they get dry, chapped, and they feel sore/burning sensation. I apply the menthol camphor and my hands feel so much better. It gives them a cool relief and the burning sensation instantly dissapears. It keeps my hands soft and dry all winter! I know this is not the products intended use but it works wonders for me in the winter time.
