(More customer reviews)Konsyl was suggested to me in a hospital medical conference by a prominent colon-rectal surgeon in the area who will recommend nothing but Konsyl to his patients. As a surgeon my self who treats much colon cancer and other colo-anal problems, I thought that I would try it. I've used the other well-known laxatives, but have been quite disappointed, as they tended to make one more constipated. Konsyl was much different. I tends to be more tasteless and less palatable than other formulas, but mixes great with either fruit juice or protein drinks. It has become a regular for me. Considering that Americans are plagued by colo-rectal disease, including colon cancer, diverticulosis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, perianal disease including abscesses, hemorrhoids, puritis, etc., etc., all of these are remedied best with at least using Konsyl as a regular diet supplement.

(More customer reviews)I'm so picky about what I drink so most of the time I stick to water and unsweetened ice tea. It isn't a bad thing to stick to water and unsweetened ice tea but sometimes I would like something different so I have found these Benefiber Fiber Supplement Powder Stick Packs flavorings to be great. They taste good and don't have an unpleasant after taste unlike some other zero calorie water flavoring and at 15 calories a packet I don't worry about adding a whole lot of calories to my diet by drinking too many of them in a day. One thing which bugs me is the powder doesn't seem to dissolve fully no matter how much I shake it in the bottle and the little bit of powder is a bit strong in flavor. Another complaint I have is there seems to be a lot of food color in this because after drinking it my lips are a nice shade of red.
Two health benefits I have with the Benefiber Fiber Supplement Powder Sticks are the 3 grams of fiber per serving. With three grams of fiber I'm doing a little better for myself than I would with other type of single use water flavorings. I have noticed that the added fiber and flavor may be helping to stave off afternoon hunger for me.
Benefiber uses wheat dextrin which is an insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber is good for maintaining regularity but from what I have heard it's best to try and get a mix of both soluble and insoluble fiber. I'm not an expert; it's just what I have heard.
So if you aren't getting your recommended about of fiber (25 - 38 g/day for healthy adults) this drink mix maybe something which could help but I wouldn't consider using it as a fiber supplement.
Something which someone may find helpful is the fact that the sweetener used is Phenylalanine, a product which I have heard some people who suffer from phenylketonuria (PKU) can not metabolize. I'm not sure if the box contains this warning or not but the individual packages do.
This all being said I give Benefiber Fiber Supplement Powder Stick Packs four out of five stars.

1.Good taste without a bad after taste.
2.3 grams of fiber
3.Good alternative to drinking sugary sodas
4.Helps with hunger
Cons:
1.Doesn't dissolve all the way
2.Lots of food coloring
3.Artificial sweetener

(More customer reviews)I got this because I wanted to add fiber to the family's diet. I started mixing it in everthing I made that was wet. No one could tell it was there.
It's not gritty like Metamucil and doesn't stick to the glass like Metamucil. It's also flavorless, unlike Metamucil.
The bottle says not to mix it with fizzy things like soda. I'm guessing it flattens it out, but i haven't tried it. I did try it with a dressing made with mayonaise and the mayo seemed to get more runny so it did not come out quite as good.
I usually have it in my Crystal Light. It's pretty good that way, mostly because I can't tell it's there.
I don't really want it in water, though I've done that. It might be psychological, but I don't like the thought of having this tasteless stuff in water, so I down it quickly. Honestly, I don't taste it, but I don't want anything in my water unless it flavors it, like Metamucil does.
One thing I'd like them to improve is the design of the opening of the container. It would be nice if I could fit a spoon in it to scoop out the fiber, rather than having to pour it out.

Metamucil Psyllium Fiber Smooth Texture Sugar Free Powder Canister Review

(More customer reviews)Metamucil is a great way to get added fiber. The orange sugar-free smooth texture version is less gritty than the original texture. The orange flavor is pleasant and goes down easily. I take it regularly myself to keep regular and it works just as it should. And it has the added benefit of being good for my cholesterol.
Note: Different Metamucil powder formulations have different instructions for mixing. Some doses are measured by teaspoons and some are tablespoons. This particular formulation is rounded teaspoon. Check the label carefully.
A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER
* A good rule of thumb is not to take fiber at the same time as other medicines as they may bind to the fiber and not get absorbed. Take your other medicines at least 2 hours apart from the Metamucil.
* Mix with a nice tall glass of water. You might want to drink some extra water afterwards to wash it down. If you fail to heed the water warning, you risk choking or getting completely plugged up -- the exact opposite of what you are trying to accomplished.
* Don't expect immediate relief. Use it every day for a few days.
* The gas problem will eventually go away. Start low and increase fiber intake slowly to help with this problem.
* Wash your glass out immediately or else it will stick to your glass and be difficult to remove.
* Fill the glass with water and then add the Metamucil. If you do it the other way around, you may have a big clump on the bottom of your glass that doesn't dissolve.
WHO SHOULDN'T TAKE METAMUCIL?
* Anyone who cannot drink the required amount of water.
* Anyone who has trouble swallowing.
* Anyone who has a bowel obstruction.
It may seem strange at first since Metamucil is labeled a laxative, but it can also be used for chronic diarrhea. It works by absorbing water and thereby adding bulk to the stool. Bulky stools move faster down the intestines. Because Metamucil absorbs water, it does not cause diarrhea but rather can help it.
As always, if the change in bowel movement is recent and doesn't improve, a physician should be contacted.
