Words simply cannot do justice to review such a precious masterpiece? Because I have searched all through my child-& adulthood for those sister and fellow African Americans who felt "the CALL of the Spirit" to return, with a fiery passion, to the Motherland of Africa, this book is an awesome, personal gift to me. Not everyone will get the call to return to Africa, and not everyone called will answer. However, I think that we are indebted to at least return for a visit to see where it is we have our true roots and to see what it is we can give back to Mama Africa. Tauheedah writes with a soul eloquence that simply takes one spiritually, emotionally and even transphysicially on the journey with her. You will taste, feel, smell, cry, laugh and more as you travel the 360 degrees from America to Africa back to America again. As I read and soaked in every word, I was uplifted and transported!
This book is a must read for every African American, every Euro Anglo Saxon and every other race, be you black, white, red or yellow, who needs to understand the plight, the desperation and indeed the obsession of those of us who are descendants of slaves to make this 360 degree journey. For some of us, the return will be permanent as we will, simply, have arrived back home.
I pray and expect to see this magnificent book in the hands of Henry Louis Gates, Oprah Winfrey, T.D. Jakes, Michael Jackson, Denzel Washington, and so many others who can assure and insure that this historical masterpiece finds it rightful place alongside other literary Greats!
