As a nurse, I take proper needle disposal very seriously, as I have been stuck by an improperly disposed of used needle (at the hospital) and the months of concern about possible infectious disease. No one wants to get stuck with a used needle, be it at home or in the trash pickup, But, what is a person to do when they must use needles to deliver needed medications? Sharps Disposal Containers are all well and fine, but no amount of taping or sealing the Sharps' Container can prevent the box from being opened, be it by hand or being crushed in landfill. The Bd Safe Clip Clipper Device is the safest, easiest and most efficient way of making the needle unusable and to dispose of used needles in your homes trash.
I keep my Clipper in a drawer right by the area that I prepare and inject my medications. The Clipper accommodates all needle sizes. I use 27G needles, 1/2" long. The used syringe goes into a Sharp's container, while I simply put the needle into the opening on the side of the Clipper flush to the hub of the syringe and press down. The needle is easily clipped off and stored inside the Clipper until it is full (holds over 1500 needles!)it goes in the trash. This gives me great peace of mind that my used needles cannot injure anyone else.
I AM GIVING MY DOCTOR A BD CLIPPER SO HE CAN SHOW ANY PATIENT WHO NEEDS MEDICATION BY NEEDLE THIS VERY SAFE WAY OF DISPOSING OF THEIR USED NEEDLES. I CALLED OR E-MAILED 9 DIFFERENT AGENCIES,FROM THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE TO THE CDC AT MY STATE LEVEL, TO FIND A SAFE WAY OF NEEDLE DISPOSAL OTHER THAN JUST THROWING THEM IN THE TRASH. NOT ONE GAVE ME ANY ANSWER EXCEPT "PUT THEM IN A COFFEE CAN OR SHARPS CONTAINER AND TAPE UP THE TOP AND THROW IT IN THE TRASH". I WAS APPALLED BY THIS UNSAFE METHOD AND THE LACK OF INFORMATION FOR PROPER NEEDLE DISPOSAL. AFTER ALOT OF ONLINE SEARCHING, I FOUND THE BD CLIPPER AND NOW INTEND TO EDUCATE ALL "NEED TO KNOW" PEOPLE ABOUT THIS SAFE METHOD OF NEEDLE DISPOSAL.Bd Safe Clip Clipper Device ea

Bd Sharps Container 1.4 Quart Home, 5.44 Packages 12-Count Review

I was pleased to see that Amazon sells these 1.4 qt sizes in a pack of 12. At $2.66 apiece, that's way better than paying over $6 apiece at a pharmacy. I gave it four stars only because the description on the container says it can hold 70-100 insulin needles. Well, we've filled up over a dozen of these red containers, and we find we can only fit 50 insulin needles in one 1.4 qt. red container. Maybe it's the size of the needles, so your mileage may vary. Other than that, we're very pleased with this purchase. And here's an important note: Be sure to NOT close the cap onto the top of the red container until you are absolutely sure you won't be putting anymore needles inside. Once that cap is put on, it STAYS on permanently.
