While one medication may not work for another, it may have magical powers for the next. That next person would be I, that medication would be Robitussin Cough & Chest Congestion DM Max. An elixir of healing! Here's my story:
Three days ago, going into the fourth vocal cord infection and voice loss in four weeks, including one doctor visit, two prescriptions, one shot, cough syrup (prescribed), and plenty of prayers and concerns from students, I walked through the pharmacy aisle, seeking, seeking that said elixir. As soon as I spotted Robitussin DM, I remembered using it in the past. (Do you forget such things? That's scary...). I had been having wracking, deep coughing fits that disturbed everyone around me with their intensity and awfulness.
As soon as I returned to the car, I unscrewed the top and stopped coughing long enough to pour a measureful (measure comes with the product). That's also when I remembered how thick are the contents of that bottle. Creepily thick. I swigged anyway. What DM Max molasses-thick syrup does is cause the taker to expectorate. That's why I was coughing--drainage was sliding down my throat, causing a choking, drowning sensation. Ol' DM to the rescue! Coughing ceased in a minute. The turning point of the drainage followed shortly. Healing began!
In summary, Robitussin DM Max works for some, not for others. While it has excellent catalytic properties in initiating healing, its drawback is its creepy thickness and its bitter hint at cherry flavor. It tastes like the medicine you remember from your childhood but also works as well (or does with some people).
Because it does work for me, I'm giving all the stars despite the viscosity and flavor. When nothing else works, why penalize for secondary qualities? Not I! Hooray for Robitussin DM Max!
