(More customer reviews)William Lee Rand has managed to write a Reiki book that is both spiritual and practical. His reference to the sourse of Reiki and the higher power, the need for compassion and it's relationship to healing helps us remember the real purpose of healing.
The fact that he has studied with so many different teachers from different lineages has given him a very broad understanding. You can sense the respect he has for all Reiki people and the fact that he promotes harmony in the Reiki community is very important to the health and well being of all of us involved with Reiki.
At the sametime, it is a very practical and down to earth Reiki book. He has done research in Japan and also taken classes from Japanese Reiki masters so that his Reiki information is based on facts and on original information from Japan, rather than second hand information that has wandered from the original intent of Reiki. He also includes all the hand positions for both self and others and important information on the Japanese Reiki Techniques that were taught by Dr. Usui and the Hayashi Healing Guide which are really necessary if one is to understand how Dr. Usui practiced Reiki. He has also provide very helpful information on developing your Reiki practice and becoming a Reiki master which I have found useful in getting my practice started. It also includes some of the best information on the Reiki symbols I have found.
This book is one of the clearest and easist to understand of all the Reiki books I have read. I truely feel that he comes from the heart and has done his best to create a very helpful and informative Reiki manual.

Learning Reiki Third-Degree Manual Mastership Review

(More customer reviews)David Smith presents a very clear, well-outlined course in how to become and take advantage of being a Reiki master in 'Learning Reiki: Third-Degree Manual Mastership.' Chapters are to the point and subdivided to enhance understanding and locating specific information. Smith is very personal in his approach and does not come across as a 'teacher' in the sense of someone standing above another, a 'student.' Smith explains every step and why or why not he would recommend following the tenets that others in the Reiki field write about or teach. Smith definitely objects to limiting the use and purpose of Reiki and is therefore very open and nonjudgmental in his teaching. He teaches the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of natural healing and this book is appropriate for Reiki practitioners who have completed the second degree.
I do wish Smith had gone to a copy editor before finalizing the publication as there are numerous typos (although only a few alter his intended meaning).

I have been practicing Reiki for ten years and teaching Reiki classes all around the world for six years. The manual is written clearly, which makes it easy for beginning practitioners to understand this healing art, or to help those who are simply curious about Reiki to develop an awareness of how Reiki can be applied to their life. As a teacher, this manual is a lifesaver for me. It contains all the elements I need to provide instruction in Reiki levels I & II. This minimizes the necessity for students to do extensive note-taking, and allows them more time in class for experiential learning. Mr. Rand is well known for his investigative nature, and it is through his diligent research and networking with other dedicated Reiki Masters that new light was shed on the history of Reiki. This book includes a comprehensive and documented history section, that brings new light to Usui Sensei's true intent for the use of Reiki. It replaces some of the myth with factual historical information. The story of the author's personal journey to Usui Sensei's tomb and his experiences on the holy mountain of Kurama bring life to the history. The many uses for Reiki and the symbols are clearly explained, as well as what Reiki is and how it heals. The hand positions for treating self and others are well illustrated. The treatment documentation form included in the book is a useful tool for practitioners, and helpful for clients in understanding their healing process. There is also useful information on developing a Reiki practice and informative material on how Reiki is being used in hospitals. Reiki the Healing Touch, in this revised and expanded version, is a must for any serious Reiki practitioner or teacher.

(More customer reviews)This is one of the best books I have read on Reiki. I have been practicing and teaching Reiki for a while and it was wonderful to read a book that I could recommend. I recommend it to all my Reiki level II students because David Vennells has written exactly what I would have said if I had written a book:) It is an easy read - like he is talking to you face to face - and answers many questions you may have thought of but but were afraid to ask. What I appreciate about the author is that he is not judgemental in any way and from the begining states that the reader should accept only what makes sense to them.

(More customer reviews)Not since Bodo J. Baginski and Shalila Sharmon's book "Universal Life Energy" in 1988 has there been a book that has so much heart. JaneAnne Narrin's *One Degree Beyond: A REIKI Journey Into Energy Medicine* is a unique arrival on the literary scene - and one written directly from Heart.
Taking the methodology, a sublime methodology I might add, called *The Usui System of Natural Healing*, and how it can, with Intent, become one of the most powerful and effective ways to move Narrin, in "One Degree Beyond" shows how to put Reiki to work in one's life, indeed, even change the quality of one's life. For this she won the 1999 Visionary Award.
While the marketplace is awash with books on 'reiki' very few books, if any, explore the matter of personal transformation in conjunction with this simple practice, Reiki.
Narrin points out the place of Reiki in a living partnership with which one begins to have aa fuller and more resonant experience of Being Alive. And she does this in both a practical and eloquent way. In a sense, Reiki practice *is* pure channeling: when one has life experiences and by the relaxed observation of them brings forth insights that spring forth with intuition right from the heart of All That Is.
"One Degree Beyond. . ." is not a book teaching Reiki methodology per se (giving hand positions, and other data is more appropriate and accessible in a workshop setting,) but this book looks instead at the Essence of Reiki.
Having myself taught Reiki for many years, this (the Essence) is of special interest to me. I think whether one is a new or more advanced student, or knows little about this whole field of energetics and integrative therapy, Narrin's work engages the reader, always proposing new ways to look at things, including one's self.
Many,many books about Reiki that are out there these days just describe technical data. They appear to me to have limited ,if any, value - I think that one cannot really learn Reiki from a book. There is such a difference in depth and grace that one derives from the interaction between student and teacher.. .at least that is what my students tell me when they learn *The Usui System of Natural Healing, Reiki in conjunction with a personal transformation program called The ReikiTECH Workshop. After this intensive training, believe me, graduates of the workshop need not be reminded about technical data . . .and if one has not experienced Reiki training, method books are hardly going to attract the man on the street so-to-speak. The man on the street wantscpeace of mind. . .harmony. . .a way of feeling comfortable in his own skin. This is what "One Degree Beyond: A Reiki Journey Into Energy Medicine" is about . . .living an enriched life, plugging into Vital Life Force (which has never been so easy,) dissolving stress at its roots and moving into wellness (wholeness.)
In this regard, readers find Narrin's book to be rich with narrative and insight, and a practical interactive text. This can guide one to realise that, truly, the way forward for humanity is to get beyond "attachment to outcome" (having to always have things your own way) through the practice of Reiki, which engenders deep caring and attentiveness in the present moments of our lives. To 'participate in', rather than to be 'in control of' is a far more healthful and satisfying way of living. To be grateful for each moment as we walk through our lives, is to stand at the gateway to enlightenment. Here we may welcome an era of deep and abiding personal harmony to be enjoyed by each and every human being. So this is about *process* rather than the *results* . . .part of the paradigm shift as we move into the new millennium.

The information is clear and accessible for anyone, whether new to energy work or with years of experience. An excellent tool with methods not just for healing but for manifesting, using Reiki on for healing the past and the future, clearing rooms and a huge variety of methods for emotional healing. Of others certainly but these methods can be used for healing oneself, now, in the future and as so many of us need, the past. We can't change the past but with Reiki and several of the methods in the book we can heal it.
I love the room clearing technique and the Reiki fountain. But there are so many here, you can have a great time with new ways of healing.

The table is SUPERB!
The padding and fake leather is very soft and comfortable (feels luxurious!) The rounded corners are comfortable to lean on and give the practitioner a little spot to get closer to the client in the middle of the table. The table opens and closes easily, w/o a bunch of cables or sticks to hook here and there. You just open, plop and enjoy!
I used to own a earthlite spirit Reiki 10 years ago and ended up giving it to a friend when I stopped using it frequently. I must say, that was a fine table but the good folks at earthlite have now made this great classic even better!
I considered the earthlite Avalon XD package (about $100 cheaper).
From the descriptions, it seems to have a single width (30") and be a wee bit less padded (2-3/4" instead of 3"). It comes with one regular and one Reiki end plate so you can probably make it work under most circumstances. If you're reluctant on spending $[...] on this package, then I would suggest the Avalon XD. I have full confidence in the good folks at earthlite to deliver the BEST tables around.
