Medicool Insulin Protector Diabetic Insulin Carry Case Color Blue Review

I have the Frio Duo for daytrips with insulin, but wanted something better for traveling with my vials when we go out of town for longer periods of time. This was recommended to me by a diabetic friend, so I ordered it. With Prime shipping, it arrived very quickly, just in time for a weekend trip away.
The first thought I had is that it is BIG. I don't know what I expected, but with the foam and the plastic tray, it takes up quite a bit of space. I would compare it to a bottle of shampoo in size, a little wider and not quite as tall, in case you are wondering how much space it might take in a suitcase or carryon. Definitely too big to fit in my purse like I had hoped.
It comes with 2 cooling trays, which you actually put in the refridgerator, NOT the freezer, and holds 2 vials of insulin, just as pictured. They do feel loose, they don't snap into place at all, but once inside the cooler, that doesn't matter. The pouch on front was bit enough to hold several alcohol pads and about 4 syringes. I found it difficult to open and close the top, as the foam is really well-packed around the cooler, but I guess that makes sense. You don't want things sliding around in there!
Despite the size, this is an excellent option for keeping insulin cool for longer travel, as long as you don't need immediate access to it. I throw this in a carryon case or checked bag, and still carry a couple of syringes in my purse.

Vial Protection by Securitee Blanket Review

Vial Protection by Securitee Blanket

No, it's not sold by a gecko. But it is definitely an insurance policy. My old insulin case fell off the shelf while I was drawing up a dose. It was only a couple of feet, but the brand new bottle of Lantus shattered. The case was ruined, the smell was awful, and over $100 worth of insulin was lost.
I found these cute little insulin cozies when I came to look for a new case. The short one fits my Novolog bottle, and the tall one fits the Lantus. The material fits the bottles snugly, and provides a thick, dense cushion all the way around. The padding on the bottom is just a little thinner, but the bottle is still well-protected. Hopefully, it'll be a long time before I drop another bottle, but if I do, I'll be in a much better situation.
The colors are bright and make identification of different bottles very easy. (As long as you remember which bottle gets which color...)
It's easy to get bottles back out, too. Just push on that thinner area on the bottom. The bottle moves easily, but stays under control. It won't pop out, but the top will come just far enough that you can get a good grip on it. Also useful if you want to take a quick look to see how much is left inside.
There are only two disadvantages. One is that the cushioning makes the bottles larger. You may need to find a new case. But at least you won't have to worry about them being tossed around and broken if left loose.
The other is the lack of transparency. You have to push part of the bottle out to see how much is left, and you have to pull the whole bottle out if you forget which kind of insulin is inside. A little plastic window might be a nice addition, if they could do it safely and cheaply.
Still, any way you look at it, it's a small price to pay to protect such an expensive, life-saving medicine.

Diabetes Bag / Diabetic Wallet Organizer Review

I was surprised when I received the Organizer because I hadn't expected to receive it so quickly. It's a sturdy, well constructed wallet/organizer that's a perfect size for a short trip. When researching options for travelling with my insulin, I was worried the ice packs would freeze the insulin, but the reviews stated that it wouldn't, and I can attest that's true. The case kept my insulin at the required temperature range and I was able to carry my syringes in the bag as well. The travel size sharps containers are great. I would recommend getting a couple more for backup. Very pleased with the product.

Insul Pak Black Insulated Medication Travel Bag with Electronic Temp Display Cools up to 30 Hours Comes with Moisture Safe 24oz PolarTech Gel Pack Review

I purchased this travel pack to transport my hCG during trips from Maryland to the South of France. The pak kept its contents cool for an extended time, reaching ambient temperature after about 30 hours. It is very rugged and stylish and the built-in digital temp display is nice. The only complaint is that is doesn't have a lot of space for vials after much of its depth is consumed by the ice pack and insulation. Still, it does what I need it to do and I would recommend it.

Protective Medicine Case Review

While it's not as big as I envisioned, it works rather well with my diabetic supplies. It's not flimsy like others I've tried, hard case protects better, and cushions better if dropped. Places for everything. In my view, an exceptional product. One hard to find anywhere else.
Thanx,
JRM
