Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier 1 ea Review

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier 1 ea
Average Reviews:

I bought this warm mist humidifier after owning a vaporizer and a cool mist humidifier. The vaporizer was fine except that it was too hot and burned my son's arm, so i needed something else. The cool mist humidifier (different company) broke very fast besides for the expense of changing filters.
This humidifier is great.
1) The warmth is very soothing but not too hot-it won't burn you if you put your hand over the mist.
2) It never leaks onto the floor or gets the surrounding furniture wet (the other one did all the time).
3) It is whisper quiet. You can hardly hear the very soft humming sound even when right near it even on high.
4) It gives out a nice amount of humidity even on the low setting.
5) It is very simple to clean.
6) It is very light and easy to fill up.
On the low setting the water lasts well over 12 hours-I haven't timed exactly how long. On high it goes for about a little over 11 hours. The auto shut-off works very nicely.
I really think this product is great so far. I've paid more for it at a local store and still think it's worth it. The Amazon price is really great which makes it a great buy.

The Holmes Group HM5250UC Warm Mist Humidifier for Small Rooms Review

The Holmes Group HM5250UC Warm Mist Humidifier for Small Rooms
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would have rated this a 5 star if the cleaning was easier, but I do not know if such a humidifier exists.
We have hard water and the build up of scale was becoming a problem, even with daily cleaning (yes, you should clean this unit daily). I came up with a solution to reduce and almost eliminate the scale - I add a teaspoon of baking soda to the tank when I refill it. The scale is drastically reduced and the unit runs at a whisper quiet. I originally ran the unit without the baking soda and there was some noise, mainly gurgling, that was too loud for me since I am a light sleeper.
There is a black covered heating element that requires cleaning to remove scale. This can be very difficult to remove. I solved this as part of the weekly maintenance when you use vinegar to clean the base. The part with the heating element rests on the base. By adding enough vinegar to fill the well where the heating element engages with the base, and allowing it to soak for 10 or 15 minutes, the scale is easily removed.
I like the warm mist because it helps warm up the room.
Overall, I believe this unit is a great value.

Sunbeam Warm Mist Humidifier Review

I'm happy with this humidifier. It has everything I wanted. Low price, filter free, easy to fill, warm instead of cool (less bacteria in the vapor), dishwasher safe, more than just on/off settings. I found it at target for $28. It makes some bubbling popping noises, but I kinda like the sound! I love the 'medical tray' b/c you can put essential oils in it to make the room smell nice! Over all, very pleased for the price. Although I am going to invest in a hydrometer.

Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, Muscle Rub and Balm Review

Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, Muscle Rub and Balm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've done daily battle with the knots and trigger points of fibromyalgia since a car accident in 2009. Honestly, I thought I had tried every medicated balm, salve, liniment or rub in the book trying to stop get some relief from the spasms that had become part of my daily existence. During one of our treatment sessions, my massage therapist told me that one of her clients, who also has fibromyalgia, had found a new product that was really helping her: Eagle Brand Medicated Oil. I was all ears now, eager for the information. My massage therapist, however, had a surprise in store for me. Her client had given her a sample to share with me in our session that day. I couldn't believe my luck!
The sensation of Eagle Brand as well as its scent was quite different than that of Tiger Balm. Comprised primarily of Menthol, Eucalyptus, Methyl Salicylate, Ethyl Alcohol, Rose Oil & Mineral Oil, it takes its green color from the chlorophyll of leaves and adds a hint of nutmeg to round out its already appealing aroma. Given that my family could smell my Tiger Balm long before I entered the room, the change I've made from Tiger Balm to Eagle was welcomed by one and all (LOL)!
Still, changing medicine doesn't make sense unless a switch is being made to improve the quality of a patient's life and I have really found help for my spasms with Eagle Brand. Hence I was not surprised to learn that, in Asian medicine, Eagle Brand is truly a "jack of all trades" medication for it is used to treat anything ranging from the flu to insect bites, headache, muscular aches, backache, arthritis, strains, bruises, sprains or stomachaches.
It is a great product - one that can really help with knotty muscles and pain - and I hope it will help you as much as it has helped me.

PediaCare Gentle Vapors Vapor-Plug Unit and Nightlight, Mini Waterless Vaporizer (Pack of 3) Review

Average Reviews:

I was looking for an alternative to the adult version (medication vapor) and came across this product. Wonderful, wonderful, what a nice product! I love this no chemical version using just Menthol, Eucalyptus, Camphor, Lavender, Chamomile. the aromatic scent in the room was great! I was not congested, but if certainly peaked my nostrils. A great product, will certainly tell other parents about it.
So even if looking to clean/freshen the air without chemicals, I think this is a nice alternative.

1G Vaporizer with Nightlight Review

1G Vaporizer with Nightlight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is as basic as it gets, but that's great. Two electrodes in the vaporizer part pass a current through the water (add salt to the water per the instructions), turning it to steam. This puts out a gallon or so of water in a night. Yes, the electrodes disintegrate over time, leaving pieces in the tank, but they just pour out when you empty the excess water. After a few years, our first unit isn't working very well anymore, but we just bought another for what you'd pay for just the filter of a more expensive humidifier.
We have a large humidifier for the main spaces of our house; this vaporizer is too small and not meant to run continuously all winter long. But when someone has a cold, this goes in the bedroom for the night and works pefectly. We've never used any medicines with it, so I can't comment on that feature, but it produces steam and humidifies a room well.

Kaz KFC-4 4 Oz Menthol Inhalant Review

Kaz KFC-4 4 Oz Menthol Inhalant
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this in hope it would be a cheap variant of Vick's Camphor inhalant. I was so wrong! This item has a weird mix of ingredients, they do not smell nice together. The oily liquid does not allow the mixture to dissolve in water, and as the result there is little vapor with the medication. You need to pour a lot into a jar and stir it up to get any results, and even then the nose and lungs feel assaulted by chemicals and not soothed as they are supposed to. I would not recommend this product. Do not compromise - buy Vick's Vapo Steam.

Vicks 1.5 Gallon Vaporizer with Night-Light Review

Vicks 1.5 Gallon Vaporizer with Night-Light
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got a good chuckle out of reading some of the negative reviews on this unit. I own an industrial water treatment contracting company and it always strikes me as funny how uneducated people are with water, something they use every day. I figured I would take a minute and clarify a couple of things for people that use or are planning on purchasing one of these humidifiers, (Oh and yes I actually own one)
Humidifiers have been a part of our family for around fifteen years after I read a study on how they can reduce the usual winter ailments, colds and flu's.
First how these units work.
If you take the humidifying unit apart, you will find two probes. I believe they make them out of a Carbon and other materials. They are round and about ½" thick, and approximately four inches long. They connect each of these probes to your electrical cord. When you plug your humidifier in and these probes are immersed in water and they create an electrical current between the two probes. This creates water that boils, and thus creates steam.
Some key facts about water. Pure water will conduct none, to very little electrical current. This is why the instructions recommend adding a pinch of salt if your unit does not produce steam.
Water is the considered the Universal Solvent. In other word's water pretty much will absorb and dissolve anything that we submerge or add to it. Sometimes instantly sometimes over time. Two key things are in water that effect these humidifiers. One is the hardness of the water. Hardness is measured by checking how much Calcium and Magnesium is in the water. The other effect is Totally Dissolved Solids, or TDS. (all the other minerals that actually dissolve into water)
When you boil water, (essentially what these units do), the vapor that they produce is considered pure water or close too pure. So in essence as the water vapor escapes the unit what is left behind are the residual minerals, (tds) and the hardness, (magnesium and Calcium). Generally the Hardness cakes on the probes and creates a cement like residual. TDS usually fall out of suspension as clumps. Gray/black sand/rock formations.
So when you read comments in these reviews about residual inside the tank, or that the unit stopped producing steam, what these people are referring to is the residual left over after the water is boiled off. Depending on the water quality of their tap, the residual can be a lot or very little.
Ok, before you purchase one of these units, just remember. It's $15.00. (Wal Mart has them for a few bucks less) Your not buying an ultra fancy $200.00 Brook Stone humidifier. These are generally one season, low maintenance, throw them away when you're done. So keep that in mind.
If you want make one last, you can get some plain white vinegar. Find a jar or container that the Humidifying unit will fit into, (without being submerged) and fill it with 3/4 vinegar ( a mild acid) and set the unit in it and let it soak for a day. Repeat as necessary until the unit operates to your liking. Note the probes inside the unit do wear out, and hard water does cake up pretty thick on the probes which increase that Wear and Tear effect. (I've taken enough of them apart to know)
Bottom line - If you want a cheap way of creating warm humidified air these are the unit for you. Don't expect anything more then what they price them at, and if you don't plan on maintaining them, ie using vinegar to keep the probes semi-clean of hardness deposits, then expect no more then one to two years of use.

Vicks Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier Review

Vicks Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While this humidifier is spendy, it is quite worth it.
I have two of these humidifiers.
Pros:
1. High mist output - very clearly visible. It's like a fog machine! 'WOW!'
2. Mist volume control - many mist levels
3. Large water tank (20 hours of operation)
4. Direction control
5. Comes with it's own filter - but if you use distilled water you won't need to use the filter.
It's not silent but it is NOT loud by any means. I can sleep uninterrupted with it. My older humidifier produces the same noise level but my older humidifier produces a different frequency which disturbs my sleep. The Vick's is far superior to my old one.
Cons:
Like any humidifiers - you must keep it clean.
You have to keep the sonic agitator clean and free of dust/lint. A small bit of lint will negatively impact it's ability to produce high levels of mist. You don't even have to see the lint or dust.
Keeping the agitator clean is easy, don't touch it with bare hands - I only have to use running tap water on the agitator and it's dust/link free and it works like new every time.
Great product.

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off Review

Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier with Auto Shut-Off
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I knew i needed a humidifier, as i'm just not used to the dry air of east coast winters. But after shopping around on amazon for warm mist humidifiers, i was horrified by the reviews. Every humidifier seemed to be loud, leaky, and a hassle. I ended up getting this one because of the relatively low price, thinking that if it was as bad as all the others, at least i wouldn't have spent too much on it.
I have no complaints.
On the low setting, it's about as loud as a pot of water boiling in the next room. On the high setting, it might compete with a pot of water boiling in the same room. Every once in a while it gets a bit talkative, but that's rare and doesn't last long. I'm a light sleeper, and this unit never wakes me up.
On the low setting, a full tank of water lasts a little over 24 hours. On the high setting, it goes through in about 8 to 9 hours, perfect to run overnight.
The auto-shutoff works just fine, so i don't even bother turning it off before i leave the house.
It is a bit annoying to clean the unit, but that has a lot to do with the tap water here being less than perfectly clean. We switched to using filtered water, and now the humidifier is actually our way of knowing when to change the filter. When there's build-up on the heating element, the filter isn't working as well anymore.
The daily maintenance takes no more than a few minutes. The weekly maintenance takes longer, but that's mainly because you throw some of the pieces in to soak. It's maybe 10 minutes of effort, plus however long you want to soak the pieces.
In all, i'm very glad i purchased this unit. (And the water tank isn't nearly as blue as it looks in the picture.)

Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler Review

Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Inhaler after reviewing other comparable devices on the Internet. What sold me was the price and the name brand.
I've been using it whenever my sinus is blocked and it does a great job. Very low maintenance and the cost (water + a bit of electricity) is close to nothing to what it uses.
The face mask (I'll call it that) fits me well but I usually keep my head a few inches away when the steam really starts to engage. I surely don't want to fry my nasal passages and it could easily do that if I continue to keep my face right up to the mask.
I know I could use those menthol pads but the cost is high even searching around on the internet for lower costs. What I did instead is purchase those pocket Vicks inhalers that is not only cheap but very effective too! I usually stop for 30 seconds between steam sessions and inhale through each nostril about three times and then continue on with 5-10 minute sessions doing this for 20 minutes or so. Works real well.
I think the device will last me years and years and the maintenance with white vinegar is also low cost!
