120 Tabs 400 mg Guaifenesin Expectorant Mucus Thinner Compare to Active Ingredients in Mucinex Review

120 Tabs 400 mg Guaifenesin Expectorant Mucus Thinner Compare to Active Ingredients in Mucinex
Average Reviews:

This is the fourth (or fifth) multiple order of Guaifenesin I've placed with this vendor. In the past, this drug was prescribed to me for a reasonable co-pay. When Mucinex entered the market, insurance carriers would no longer cover it; so for about a year I had to cough up (pun intended) the premium price for the name brand.
Fortunately, I eventually found this vendor. Although all guaifenesin is a synthesized version of a plant derivative, this formulation seems to behave identically to Mucinex for me. You do have to do a little math to get the same dosage if you are used to taking Mucinex.
The brand "Kirkland Signature" is a co-brand (store brand) of Costco. The only thing I can say in this regard is that for the product I have consumed, there has not seemed to be any variance in the consistency of the product. It is important to drink the recommended glass of water when taking this medication. The water is necessary to assist in the thinning of mucus.
The service has been excellent, as has shipping time. If you are considering a reasonable alternative to more expensive brands without sacrificing effectiveness, you may want to consider trying this product.

I'm happy to report that this product is working quite well for me - just as well as the expensive brand name stuff you find at drug stores. I'm also happy to report that these tablets are coated, which eliminates the unpleasant guaifenesin aftertaste and makes the pills go down more easily.

This is great if your child has a productive cough, but make sure to offer them a drink of juice or water with it because if they chew the beads nobody is going to be happy. If you can persuade them not to chew the beads then they'll love it and so will you!

Poor Ol' Dipper has a cold! Sniffle, sniffle, honk, honk, Dipper's been under the weather since returning from a successful hunting trip recently. My doc prescribed some of these Mucinex fun bombs for me officially to help clear out some nasty snoogers. The result, snoogers aside, has been gloriously explosive! What rhymes with 'tarts'? Smarts? Hearts? Hey! Let's play "Remove a Letter"!!! Here we go.... Flarts! This stuff gives you endless amounts of GAS!!!! Not since I tried the PETA Diet have I had hiney honkers quite like this!!! I have no idea how many cubic feet of stinkless hoo hoos I popped out, but they were honking almost non-stop for almost four hours within thirty minutes of popping these giggle pills. Mucinex? More like Pootinex!!! They do the official job admirably, but the side effects on me kept me giggling for hours!

I have loved these since they came out! Even if my kids were pretty sick and did not want to take anything else, I could get them to take their Mucinex. This was a new flavor for us (Bubble Gum) as we had always had the Grape in the past. Youngest still took it with no problem and it totally helps clear up her congestion.

Mucinex 100 Immediate Extended Release Tablets (600mg) Review

Mucinex 100 Immediate Extended Release Tablets (600mg)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Being a long-time sinus sufferer, I found the benefits of guiafenesin years before it became "MUCINEX". Without it, my sinuses get plugged and irritated within a few days, setting me up for recurrent infections. It works as an "expectorant" which means it helps keep the mucus thinned so your sinuses can clear more easily and don't become a breeding ground for bacteria and /or viruses.
As a clinic-based, practicing RN, I know that Mucinex / guiafenesin is often recommended by physicians, and is a safe product with very few side effects or drug interactions. (NO, I'm not getting paid by anyone to say any of this!)
Mucinex in this Extended Release formula minimizes the number of daily doses down to once or twice daily depending on your personal needs. This 100 tablet bottle is definitely the cheapest way to purchase - I had been getting it at WalMart for the past few years (until my smart sister told me to check for it on Amazon :-) in the 40 tablet bottles for almost $20 per bottle!
If you have sinus problems, especially chronic ones, or are prone to recurring infections, Mucinex is certainly worth a try.

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (5 oz.) Review

Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief (5 oz.)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I hate cold syrups of any kind because they taste so disgusting. As far as artificial flavors go, orange is one of my favorites, so I decided to brake down and try Delsym because they seemed to have the lowest price per dose for something that was strictly a cough suppressant. Every time I take a cold medicine with both cough suppressant and expectorant in it, while only having cough issues (such as for the cough that lingers after a cold) I end up feeling incredibly dry in my chest, even if I compromise and take only half a dose. Anyway, I thought about getting the Robitussin CoughGels, Liqui-gels 20 ea, but they seemed expensive for 10 doses - now I wish I'd decided differently. For starters, the Delsym could definitely taste worse, but it still left me with that utterly disgusted look on my face and the need to chase this with food and water to get rid of the aftertaste. I've taken this a few different times now, and have decided that it doesn't work. It may have decreased my urge to cough slightly for an hour or two after it got in my system, but it is not enough to help me sleep through the night, or really get to sleep for that matter. I'm writing this review at 4:30 AM because I just had a coughing spell. (I probably took the Delsym around midnight.) I now have a sore throat and a hurting side from coughing so much, and nothing to show for the $11 I wasted on this stuff. From much of what I've found on the internet, the Dextromethorphan Polistirex in Delsym doesn't work for a lot of people; it's such a shame that it's so hard to find Dextromethorphan HBr (which does seem to work for me) as a single active ingredient in anything because there are so many people out there who abuse it.

Mucinex Max Strength Expectorant Bi-Layer Tablets, 28-Count Review

Mucinex Max Strength Expectorant Bi-Layer Tablets, 28-Count
Average Reviews:

I have used the regular strength Mucinex (600 mg) 12 hour formula and it worked great and would highly recommend it. BUT, the maximum strength is so strong that it completely dried out my whole nasal passage and I could not breathe through my nose. Also, when I cough, it burns my chest because it is so dry. I would recommend that you start with the regular formula, before trying the maximum strength. If regular works for you, stick with it.

This OTC medication is the only thing that has helped my Fibromyalgia besides sleep and good nutrition. I can start to tell a major difference after only missing a couple of doses. However, determining the correct dose to take did require some trial and error. This treatment should also only be done within the guidelines for the Protocol, otherwise, blocking will occur and you will be wasting both your time and money. I have tried numerous forms of guaifenesin, but the Mucinex is by far my favorite!

MucinexDM Expectorant and Cough Suppressant, 600mg, Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets Review

MucinexDM Expectorant and Cough Suppressant, 600mg, Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are so many cough formulas on the market that it is easy to get confused on what to buy. Here is a guide:
Cough medicines are categorized as EXPECTORANTS or SUPPRESSANTS, each may be sold separately or in combination medications, like this one. They're also found in cold formulas that include pain relievers (analgesics such as acetaminophen (Tylenol)), decongestants (pseudoephedrine), and antihistamines (diphenhydramine).
This product has a cough suppressant (dextromethorphan), combined with an expectorant (Guaifenesin). The purpose of an expectorant is to loosen phlem so that it can be coughed up and out. Take an expectorant with a full glass of water, as water is an excellent expectorant. Also, drink plenty of fluids if you are congested. Hot liquids, such as chicken soup, tea and honey--work especially well. Breathing humidified air also moistens and soothes irritated airways, and loosens mucous.
A cough SUPPRESSANT works by calming the cough reflex in the brain. While it's not wise to stop a cough that produces colored phlegm (colored phlegm has bacteria in it), suppressants can relieve a dry, hacking unproductive cough. Suppressants are also helpful when you're exhausted from coughing and need to sleep. DEXTRMETHORPHAN (DM) is the most common active ingredient in nonprescription suppressants. Dextromethorphan has come under attack as not being effective in suppressing coughs. There is research on both sides of the issue, some that support it and others that recommend avoiding dextromethorphan. I personally have not found it effective in suppressing my coughs. Perhaps the very best cough suppressant is one which contains codeine. Codeine can be helpful as a nighttime cough remedy because it has a slight sedative effect on the central nervous system. It is available by prescription only.
Something to consider... since so many manufacturers now combine cough medicines with many other medicines, such as Tylenol for pain, a nasal decongestant, and/or an anti-histamine, I think it is wise to select a cough medicine that has ONLY the ingredients that are appropriate for your symptoms. That way you're not wasting your money on unnecessary ingredients, you spare yourself unnecessary side effects, and you're getting only the medication that your body needs.konedog

Mucinex Expectorant, 600mg, Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets Review

Mucinex Expectorant, 600mg, Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used extended release guaifenesin (the active drug in Mucinex) for many years to help with sinus drainage and chronic bronchitis. It really works to clear out the lungs and my MD tells me it helps reduce sinus drainage as well. I stocked up on the prescription form of guaifenesin just before the FDA pulled all extended release guaifenesin from the market except for Mucinex. The reason for this action was somewhat esoteric and it allowed Mucinex to have a monopoly on the extended release form. Well, my horde of prescription guaifenesin finally ran out and I started using Mucinex. It works that same as the old prescription drugs because it is the same thing (they are both extended release guaifenesin). But, Mucinex is very expensive. So, I switched to immediate relase guaifenesin and found that it works just as well at a significant cost savings. The only thing is that you will have to take more immediate release tablets to equal a 12-hour extended release tablet. If you can't let go of the Mucinex, consider taking the immediate release during the day and Mucinex at night. You will save a lot of money. Mucinex is the only extended release tablet on the market. So, if it is guaifenesin and it is not Mucinex then it is an immediate release tablet. Check the price differences.
