McDavid Multi-Action Knee Support (Small/Medium) Review

I suffer chrondromalacia and had previously been taping my knee on the advice of a physical therapist (physio).
This knee strap has been effective at reducing my knee pain and works better than tape when sitting for long periods. E.g. helps with driving (especially with clutch use) and long flights (especially getting up and walking off the plane).
Tape seems to be a little more effective for me when walking around, but is less convenient.
I am of slim build, and the small/medium was the right size for me.
Couple of issues - first is that after extended use this irritated the skin on the back of my knee. A few hrs a day is fine, but I wore it over a 24hr period on a recent trip to India and that caused the irritation. Second is that over time the elastic loosens up. At first the strap was a little too tight. Following a period of optimum size for me, it is now a little too loose. I can tighten it up more using the velcro, but there is then not enough stretch left for complete leg motion. I'm about to order a different knee strap as this one is no longer as effective due to the loss of elasticity.
Overall, I would say this has been surprisingly effective over the first few weeks of use, but the loss of elasticity is a little disappointing.
Other ways I have eased my condition are leg strengthening in the gym (I just wasn't moving forward using the basic physical therapy exercises), and the use of well cushioned shoes (e.g. Nike Free Everyday 2)

Bauerfeind Zeuba Vital Ankle Support Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these ankle supports because I like to have a little extra support when playing basketball. I was looking for an ankle support that was light, not bulky, and provided good/moderate support... This product delivered in two out of the three categories. It's light, it's not bulky when wearing shoes, but it provides very minimal support. It is basically an overpriced neoprene ankle support because the strap doesn't do anything for the ankle. While the material that the product is made of is very good, the design is not so good. The strap is attached to the medial part of the foot, it then wraps underneath the food, back across the top of the foot to the inside/medial part of the ankle, and then around the high part of the ankle. As seen in the picture, the strap does not cover the outside/distal part of the ankle. Unfortunately, when most people roll their ankle it strains that same outside/distal part of the ankle. My biggest and perhaps only problem with this product is that the strap does nothing to protect the most susceptible part of the ankle.
Overall, this is a well constructed product that has some design flaws. It would be good for very light exercise but those needing better than ok ankle protection should look elsewhere (lace up ankle braces).

Bauerfeind Malleoloc Ankle Brace Review

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical that this lightweight ankle brace would be able to provide enough support for me to play soccer in it, but I've been very impressed with it so far. I've hated other ankle braces I've had in the past because they restricted motion to the point where I couldn't run without sort of dragging my foot along. This brace provides the right amount of support and keeps you from rolling your ankle under you, but you will be able to move your foot up and down with no problem. Its so comfortable and lightweight, and I especially like that it only has parts in places where it needs to have parts. Its not like wearing a giant heavy sock like other braces, especially the lace-up variety. I would defintely buy this brace again.

Bauerfeind MalleoTrain Left Ankle Support Review

(More customer reviews)I am using the product to get extra swelling out from my ankle. I rolled my ankle awhile back and recovery is taking awhile. I will also be using this when I go on jogs and work out in general to prevent swelling of my ankle. I have had it for a day and it is extremely comfortable. It has silicon pads on both the inside and outside of the ankle bones and the compression is quite perfect assuming you measured your ankle right and purchased the right size support. I will write more after having used it for a bit.
However, there is little in terms of support to prevent the ankle from rolling. I will not be using this for basketball or any other 'contact' sports where having to break and change speed quickly is needed. The MalleoLoc is probably better suited for that and will be tested soon.
Pros: Effective, Stabilizes, Easy To Use, Comfortable
Cons: Provides Little Support in terms preventing ankle rolling/sprains

Pro-Tec Athletics Night Splint Review

(More customer reviews)This splint did not work for my plantar problem. My heel had a tendency to move forward even with the straps at its tightest. The sole of the splint should be pointed toward the shin to some degree; instead it is just straight. I wear a 5.5 shoe so i ordered a size small. The fabric of the splint makes the foot hot. I do not recommend this product.

Provides great support when placed on the elbow properly the problem is there are no directions that specifically detail how the put the thing on to maximize it's use. After using it for a couple weeks I thought I had wasted my money until one day i put it on differently and experienced great support. Product instructions need improvement but other than that a good support.

Professional Sports Medicine Dual Action Neoprene Knee (Patella) Suport Review

(More customer reviews)The one in the picture and the one in the box are definitely NOT the same. Similar sure. But the one in the picture looks to have a nice snug fit. The one in the box slides downward with just normal walking. And looking at the one on my knee and the one in the picture I can see some very obvious differences:
The one in the picture has an overlapping bottom strap. The one in the box does not.
The one in the picture has a top strip of velcro that has two rings of stitching. The one in the box has a single ring of stitching.
I followed their measuring instructions. I measured my knee at 15 1/2 inches. That's a medium according to their chart. But maybe I should have gotten a small because I have to really pull this thing tight just to get it to stay in one place when I'm not moving. As soon as I start moving though, down it slides.
It also does not encase the patella. You can see in the picture that it comes close to the patella on the left side of the picture. But on the right side it swings out some. The one in the box doesn't come as close on the close side, and on the other side it's
almost to the back of the knee. Way too large.
Also the velcro on the top strap is way too long on the upper flap, and way too short on the lower one so you end up with about two inches of contact with three inches of loose velcro hanging around scratching your knee when you walk. Then because it doesn't have enough contact, the velcro slides loose. This thing is a prime example of what happens when accountants get hold of the engineers design. They go cheap and then the product doesn't work.
I was going to send it back, but then I read Balego's return policy. Once the package is opened, they won't accept returns. Of course to try it on you have to open the package. And to return it you have to just send it back to them and then it's at their discretion. Note that the other reviewer sent his back, and had heard nothing since. Read the Return Policy before ordering from this company.

McDavid Hexpad Knee Or Elbow Review

(More customer reviews)Bought this for my oldest daughter who is in middle school. She is the center for her team. These pads are great and protect the knee well. They are not big or bulky like other knee pads. They stay in place and do wash. The first pair lasted over a year. This is my second pair and I would not get any other knee pad because they work so well. There are little hex shaped pads inside closely together to protect from injury. When she has fallen she no longer brusies. She says they are comfortable and she does not feel the impact of the floor. Because they have worked so well we bought them for our youngest and she equally likes them as well. They have a tight fit so when ordering take that into consideration. I ordered a large for my oldest and a medium for my youngest. I would recommend these pads to anyone who wants to protect the knee.
