This amazing device is easy to use and the results are more than I expected. Not only did it feel great having my nose clear up, but the next morning, I was finally getting the yucky stuff out of my chest too. I would lay down and get wheezing and gurgling in my chest but this too also seems to be gone. I recommend it highly!

(More customer reviews)I have been looking for a neti pot solution for a while but it's hard for me to justify the price of $30 like most products to stick it up my nose and pour water. When Waterpik came out with this solution I was excited because it was half of the cost of other products and came with the saline packets.
After I tried it for the first time, I can't tell you how much I can breathe again when I wake up. My biggest issues no matter the season or even how clean my home is is that I have an overload of mucus and what have you in my nasal cavity. I like to practice breathing exercises and tai chi in the morning but it's hard for me to go through a routine without having to stop and "hack" something out. Especially if you are doing a meditative style breathing of qi qong. However to my avail I was able to breath deeply and and I felt wonderful. This will be an excellent remedy for when I receive a cold or have an allergy.
The one thing that is a bit of a bothersome is having to keep your bottle maintained. Initially you have to clean it, boil water, wait then use it. It has to be done weekly. Also there could be a little more push of the water when I am pouring as it can take a little time. But other than that, it's a great product and I can now definitely skip the pills and just do this twice a day! Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)Used for 2 weeks. Can't use it if you have totally blocked sinus but can be used if you feel cold or allergies coming and you have some airflow. Strange to use at first. Solution comes in through one nostril, rinses sinus cavity, goes out the other nostril. Can see on youtube people demonstrating its use. Little kids don't seem to have problems. Measured out 8 oz. distilled water, microwave 15 seconds, and swirled the water for a few seconds to even the temperature out. Used the included packets and the formula works well. You can make your own but be sure to use pure salt (kosher or pickle) instead of table salt. To make an isotonic (equal to body salinity) solution, use about 1/4 tsp salt, tiny pinch of baking soda, 8 oz of lukewarm distilled water. People on the Internet use a lot of different recipes but this one works for me.

I planned on giving it to my boyfriend because the idea of purposefully putting salt water up my nose just did not appeal to me. Last week I came down with some type of cold/allergy induced sinus problems including sore throat, coughing, and congestion. It was then I remembered the Neti Pot sitting, unopened, under my bathroom sink. I was so miserable at this point that I decided to dig it out and give it a go.
The instructions were clear and helpful. I used lukewarm water (too hot and it can hurt!) and one packet of provided saline. You tilt you head to the side and slightly forward and let the water run in one nostril and out the other, by way of gravity. If you're very congested (as I was) it may take a minute for the water to come out as a steady stream. It will drip until it finally breaks through the mucus causing your congestion. While the solution is working it's way through your congestion it may also go down the back of your throat a bit, because of all the blockage in your nose. Just tilt your head forward a little more and spit it out. It just tastes like the ocean haha. Without going into too much graphic detail about what comes out of your nose with the use of the Neti Pot... I definitely recommend this product! As someone who was originally creeped out by the thought of the whole process, I've been converted! I'm now finally getting over my sickness but still have bouts of thick mucus I can feel coming down the back of my throat. When this happens the Neti Pot comes to my aid and cleans it right out! It really is a miracle, and a great alternative to steroid nose sprays (but those are amazing too...)

(More customer reviews)I just got this and used it for the first time. I was surprised that the NetiPot I received was actually blue and plastic. I had thought I was getting a ceramic one. But, I have used it once so far and I actually think the plastic is a good thing because it's lightweight while you're holding it up in the air during use. It also has a lid w/ a hole which helps control flow amount.
The packets that came with it seem fine, but I'll probably just mix my own salt in after I run out. Would definitely order this one again in the future!
Also, for those of you who can't decide whether you will be able to do this, will like it, etc. I thought $12 wasn't a bad trial rate, especially since NeilMed has a satisfaction guarantee for 90 days. And, I think you'll be surprised at how pleasant it feels when you get the water temp right!

(More customer reviews)Our family's "holistic" chiropractor suggested the Nasaline Nasal Rinsing Sytem With 10 FREE Salt Packets - Helps Clean Your Sinuses to help flush out our sinuses when we feel any kind of sinus issues coming on. Initially, we liked it, but there were two cons to the Nasaline. First, it was easy to push too hard, forcing too much saline solution in the sinuses and causing some pain but mostly discomfort in the ears and eyes. The second problem was the rubber top of the syringe. Once it dries, it no longer works. So, it was only good for less than a dozen uses, and I had to throw it away.
We are completely sold on the whole nasal flush treatment. So, I definitely wanted to get something. After searching Amazon's vast catalog of sinus irrigators, I decided to try this because I liked the design.
Overall, I like it very much and would recommend it to others over the Nasaline. Here are the pros & cons.
PROS:
- Provides excellent flow control, which is one of my most important requirements. Easy to squeeze and control how fast you want the saline solution to flow.
- The tip is very comfortable and fits snug.
- It prevents the solution from going back into the bottle, aka backwash. I tested it by trying to force faucet water back down, and it took a lot of force for it to slightly take in water.
- It comes with tons of saline packets that are easy to dispense into the bottle.
CONS:
- The opening is a little too small. I wish it was larger. Using my OXO measuring cup, water doesn't always go in spill-free. (I would have given it 5 stars if the opening were a little bigger.)
- You have to be ready to stop when you get near the end. When it takes in air, it gets a little uncomfortable but not painful.

NeilMed Sinus Rinse Regular Kit 1 kit Review

(More customer reviews)My story is like many others. I have allergies, and increasingly frequent sinus infections drove me to try this kit (which a sinus surgeon nurse gave me something like 3 years ago and it sat in a drawer in the bathroom till this summer).
Well, it is pretty weird to think about shooting water up your nose (childhood memories of turning upside down in the pool surfaced--ouch) but I finally got desperate enough to try it. And it does feel pretty weird the first few times, but I am now using this twice a day almost every day. It actually feels really good and it is amazing how much gunk comes out even when I feel relatively clear. It's not as entertaining as a Biore strip, but hey, what is?
Here are a few thoughts that are more random than the numbering might indicate:
1. I aim the nozzle tip at the opposite eye rather than straight up, and that seems to rinse better and not give me the upside-down-in-the-pool headache. The headache did happen a couple of times when I first was learning to use it and it hurts just like I remembered. Once I figured out the right angle it doesn't happen, so don't let that deter you.
2. It does travel easily, but my main problem is either being able to boil water or getting distilled water. I do not use water straight from the tap at home (boiling water at home no problem as I have an electric kettle) or traveling (one hotel I stay at frequently has very moldy pipes--can I shoot what I'm allergic to directly into my sinuses? Can I?), and that is the one pita. Otherwise, the packets and bottle are easy. I even carry a dry dock with me to hang it up on the mirror in the hotel.
3. The great thing about this kit is the pressure and speed it moves the saline solution. It actually is kind of "over before you know it." Sometimes one rinse doesn't feel like enough. I tried the 16 oz bottle and the pressure is not as strong. Now I just refill the 8oz if needed and use it twice in one session.
4. Hypertonic (green) vs. isotonic (blue--the ones that come with this kit) saline packets: I use both and don't really know that one helps more than the other. The green can be used with the 16oz bottle to make the regular solution or the 8 oz bottle to make the hypertonic (concentrated) solution. The green sometimes burns a bit. I'm still experimenting.
5. Definitely follow the instructions on heating up the water in the bottle. I fried one bottle because I didn't test my previously boiled water to see how hot it was before I put it in the micro. Normally about 35 seconds gets room temperature water to a good nasal rinse temp for me, but since the boiled water was already warm it got too hot.
6. People will think it quite strange if you give this as gifts. I tried to tell them that "Santa and I were worried about your sinuses" and it just didn't fly.
7. I find the packaging hilariously cheesy, almost like the Dr. Bronner's liquid soap labels (though definitely not as trippy). Don't ever change, Sinus Rinse!
Overall, I am very pleased with this product and think of using it like I think about washing my face, brushing and flossing (though it is recommended that you do this several hours before bed so you don't get a lot of drainage when you lie down--plus you want to allow a little time if you use a spray like Flonase, so I try to do this in the early evening). I have one at home and one for travel, and sadly for the recipients, have given some as gifts.
Oh well, they'll thank me when they pull it out of their bathroom drawer in a couple of years.

(More customer reviews)I have used the SinuPulse SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System for sometime and it is the best nasal irrigation system available but the nice thing about the SinuPulse tip is that it has been designed to fit most standard water pik models as well. So if you have a Water Pik around the house dust it off and use the SinuPulse tip. It's great for extra family members that don't want to upgrade to the SinuPulse System or are not sure. Check your Water Pik model, it fits almost all models WP20; WP30; WP32; WP60; WP70; and WP72, however, it does not fit the cordless models or the WP100.
Finally a company that creates products that have universal designs and can be used in more than one application rather than the proprietary products which serve to only line their pockets by forcing consumers to buy products they may not want or can't afford.
Anyway great product but if you can afford the SinuPulse system I recommend it.

NeilMed Sinus Rinse Regular Bottle Kit 1 kit Review

(More customer reviews)After decades of sinus problems including frequent infections that often required multiple bouts of antibiotics to clear up, I was finally referred to an ENT specialist who prescribed sinus surgery. The partitions between my sinuses were all broken out in endoscopic surgery to allow better drainage. This bottle, in a kit with at least 50 premixed salt/baking soda packets, was required for use after the surgery 3x a day for two weeks and then 2x a day for a few more weeks, to keep the nasal cavities moist and wash out any crusts that had formed.
The sensation of having your sinuses filled with salt water takes a little getting used to, as well as learning how to breathe so as not to inhale the water. I never did get to the point of the other reviewer in letting it wash through my mouth -- ick. I bend over the sink and gently squeeze the bottle until the solution starts running out my other nostril, take the bottle away and snort it out, repeat with other nostril. Takes 3 squirts each side to empty the bottle. I've found I must tilt my head the opposite direction to fully empty that sinus -- i.e. if the bottle tip was inserted in my right nostril, I tilt my head to the left and blow. Have a tissue handy if you lean over later on, because some liquid may accumulate in your lower sinuses and run out when you bend sideways to look under the desk, for instance.
I still use this 2-3x a day whenever I get a cold along with the usual OTC cold meds and since the surgery I have never had to be on antibiotics, even though my sinuses still occasionally get infected I have been able to get over it on my own. The saline is very soothing to inflamed tissues (I also gargle salt water if I have a sore throat due to sinus drainage) and helps rinse out the gunk that causes infection. When the packets run out, just mix 2 parts salt to one part baking soda and use about 3/4 teaspoon of the mixture to dissolve in the bottle.

I know it might be fun to suffer day-to-day with the jitters, drowsiness, and cotton mouth these inevitably cause (NOT!), but I prefer to use a method of relief that leaves me feeling normal. This sinus cleansing has been a real life-saver! As long as I cleanse once a day with the saline solution, I find the congestion doesn't get any worse and actually improves over time. It's a natural, healthy way to fight allergies that I would recommend to anyone. These saline packets are the reason it is so effective! I'll be using these for the foreseeable future!

I've had several docs tell me that dry sinus passages contribute significantly to both conditions. They've suggested saline spray to keep my nose lubricated, particularly in the wintertime when heat is generally drying.
I've used Simply Saline spray for a number of years. The last time I picked up a bottle, I noticed the gel and decided to give it a try. The gel really does lubricate your nose and it lasts for quite a while.
I apply it by moistening a Q-tip with the gel and sticking the Q-tip up my nose. Sounds gross, but it works.
My only issue is that I wish they'd figure a way to get me a single dose of the gel.

Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot Review

(More customer reviews)The neti pot is one of those things that I always knew I *needed* and would love once I got one and started using it.
But I still dragged my heels about getting one.
When we were out in a store one day, we saw one and my 17 year old son told me to get it. As always, I didn't feel like spending the $20 right then. There always seems to be *other* things I'd rather spend $20 on. And there we were, each ordering a gourmet coffee at $4 each. ::shame::
My son *firmly* said, for the second time, "Mom ~ GET IT!"
So I did.
And still, it just sat there. On the counter. All clean and ready to go, but picking it up and using it was another matter entirely.
And then one day, I just did it. I had been having allergy attacks, from being in the enclosed house with the woodstove burning all of the time. I couldn't believe I was sneezing so much!
So I picked up the pot, prepared the water and the salt, and did it.
It was so funny ~ I came out of the bathroom with my eyes all red and watery, with my throat all itchy feeling, my head all dizzy. My sons were like, "Yeah! That worked REALLY well!"
But once you get over the *trauma* of the first time using it (it's like going underwater and getting water up your nose, but after you do it the first time, you know what to expect...), it's amazing.
I usually do it in the morning now before I do my yoga and I feel great all day. From that *first* day I used it, those allergy symptoms I wrote about were GONE. I still am sneezy once in awhile, but just from normal irritants. I'm going to start doing it once in the morning and once in the evening.
It is amazing to be able to BREATHE and to have CLEAR feeling sinuses!!
If you are even *thinking* of getting this for yourself, just DO it. You won't be sorry. Everyone I know who has one is in love with it. It's easy ~ don't worry about getting all the special *washes* or *salts*. It works with regular salt or sea salt.
You'll be so happy you got it and used it when you're not getting those colds and sinus infections anymore.

My surgeon prescribed Alkalol for immediate use after sinus surgery. I've been using it ever since... some fifteen years... as needed. It provides immediate relief of sinus symptoms. And having used probably every allergy and cold product known to man, this one is my top choice. I have no worries about side effects or addiction. I can use it 2-3 times a day and then stop short without a rebound of the problem. I no longer call a doctor for antibiotics when I get a sinus infection. Just start using Alkalol for a couple of days. Clears it right up (and I don't get those nasty antibiotic side-effects!)
I'd never have heard of it if not for the surgeon and everyone I've recommended it to (which is everyone!) has never heard of it. This company and product should be a household word! It has the "better mousetrap." People need to hear about it! They definitely need to hype up their marketing - tho I hope they don't jack their prices up to do so.
My only gripe is that I have always had to special order Alkalol at local pharmacy counters and had to wait a couple of days for it to arrive. So I ordered two bottles at a time which usually lasts my husband and I about a year. But seeing the price here on Amazon!? Hey, I pay $2-4 a bottle depending on the pharmacy and how much profit they decide to tack on. I may use Amazon to send Alkalol to suffering out of town friends but think I'll stick with local pharmacies for now - better prices and no s/h costs.
I usually just buy the bottle by itself tho... It's really all you need and half the price.
