Betadine Solution, Antiseptic 8 fl oz (237 ml) Review

Betadine is the gold standard of external disintectants. If you don't mind the strong smell of idodine there is nothing better to be had. I've used this since I was in a burn ward thirty years ago. I had 20% totla body burns and it kept me from infection over several months until the grafts totally healed. The solution is about 1/4 of the price of the skin cleanser and ideal for soaks, whether it be baths or just the affected part of the body (esp. good for surface infections like staph infections)

Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It (4th Edition By David Brownstein, M.d. and a Bottle of Old Fashioned Lugol's Iodine (2 Fl. Oz.) Review

Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It (4th Edition By David Brownstein, M.d. and a Bottle of Old Fashioned Lugol's Iodine (2 Fl. Oz.)

I have been sick 6 years with "fibromyalgia" and recently a naturopath gave me lugol's iodine to use on my skin. I was surprised how fast it absorbed. I have heard if you absorb the iodine within 24 hours, you're deficient. I'm still tentative because I have tried everything for chronic fatigue and pain, but for the past few days I've gotten out of bed with energy and very little pain. It's cold and rainy in my area which means I usually have a very hard time moving around. Not so right now. I'm excited that this could all be explained very simply.
When I was first diagnosed, I recalled an article I had read when I was 15 about a woman who had hypothyroid and her symptoms. I thought for sure this was my problem, but my tests always come back normal. More extensive testing was done, which came back low-normal. I didn't realize some that test within normal ranges are still treated for hypothyroid based on their symptoms.

iOSAT Potassium Iodide Tablets, 130 mg (14 Tablets) Review

iOSAT Potassium Iodide Tablets, 130 mg (14 Tablets)

These Potassium Iodide pills are the only ones FDA recommended, and the same pills distributed to people living near nuclear reactors in case of a radiation release. I recommend them over the cheeper (but less effective) Potassium IodATE because the absorptive nature of KiO3 (iodate) is less known, and they are packed in a simple plastic bottle. The Foil pack of the iOSAT pills is much better for long term storage and tracking dosage.

How Potassium Iodide WorksCertain forms of iodine help your thyroid gland work right. Most people get the iodine they need from foods like iodized salt or fish. The thyroid can "store" or hold only a certain amount of iodine. In a radiation emergency, radioactive iodine may be released in the air. This material may be breathed or swallowed. It may enter the thyroid gland and damage it.The damage would probably not show itself for years.Children are most likely to have thyroid damage. If you take potassium iodide, it will fill up your thyroid gland. This reduces the chance that harmful radioactive iodine will enter the thyroid gland.
