(More customer reviews)I'd been taking melatonin, magnesium glysin and tryptophan for sleep aid, but I could never get consistent sleep with them. Priscribed medicines such as Ambien gave me awful side effects, and made the matter worse. I'd tried so many other natural sleep aides too, but they didn't help either.
Recently, I just ordered somnapure samples. It's been 3-4 days now, and I'm sleeping better now. It doesn't give me a powerful urge to fall asleep or anything, and I don't know when it starts working after taking it, but I'm falling asleep every night so far and waking up without side effects or hang over. The effects seem to be very mild and gentle, so if you want to stay awake after taking it, you probably could stay awake. It gently puts me to sleep. So far I'm happy with it.
I also take nearly 50 different supplements due to my illness + several priscribed drugs. So far somnapure doesn't seem to be interfering with them.
However, the Peaklife will charge you and send you the next bottle automatically, unless you call them and cancel it. that's the part I didn't like. So I just called them now and cancelled the next order. I would rather order it from elsewhere each time I decide to want it.

If I don't get a good sleep, I have trouble controlling my erratic mind during the day. I have been exploring natural medicinal alternatives in the last few years, however, and Clarocet PM is the most gentle and effective I've experienced. Thank goodness! I don't always need it, so I don't take it and I don't have any withdraw symptoms or difficulty sleeping afterwords. Five stars from me.

(More customer reviews)Insomnia has been a problem for me for about 4 years. It has been hard to go to sleep, and almost impossible to return to sleep if I woke up during the night. I did not want to use the standard drugs available because of potential side effects. This product is easily the 7th that I have tried, including homeopathic, other herbal, plain melatonin, teas, white sound machine, and even alcohol. (The alcohol would put me to sleep, but I would wake up in about 3 hours, and often be done for the night!)
SleepLink is composed of herbs, vitamins, and amino acids except for the melatonin. I checked the recommended safe dosage for melatonin, and the 2 capsule per dose recommendation on the bottle is within safe limits for melatonin.
Everyone is unique, and different products work for different people, but this one works for me. It is necessary for me to take it about 1 hour before bedtime in order to feel sleepy when I need to go to bed. So far, I have used this product every night for about 2 weeks, so have no information about whether I can start using it "only occasionally" instead of every night.

MidNite Natural Sleep Supplement, 30-Count Box (Pack of 2) Review

(More customer reviews)I had taken MidNite for years, only on an occasional basis, always getting a good, long and deep night's sleep. About a month ago, I started taking the herbal supplement regularly on a nightly basis. Again, I was getting wonderful, beneficial sleep. I was even able to cut the dosage of my usual prescribed sleep aid medication by half.
However, after about a week of continued use, I started to have swelling of my left foot and ankle. I had flown back east and attributed this to the heat, humidity and flying. Once I returned home, the swelling continued to the point where the condition would not go away, became very uncomfortable, for in addition to the swelling, my foot and ankle were very hot. I used ice packs and elevated my leg, but the relief was only very brief, with the edema returning.
Then 5 days ago, my right foot and leg, as well as my hands and arms began to show signs of swelling. At that point, I tried to look back at the previous month and determine if I had done anything different from before that time. At that point it occurred to me that nightly intake of Midnite might be the culprit. In researching online some of the symptoms of the ingredients, I saw that a possible side effect of melatonin was impaired blood flow. At that point, I quit taking the supplements. Now, four days later, my arms, hands, right let and ankle have returned to normal. The swelling in my left foot and ankle has greatly subsided, but at the rate it is going, I anticipate several more days for my left left and foot to be back to normal.
In doing the online research, I also learned that melatonin can interfere with prescription drugs. I take a diuretic for high blood pressure. Perhaps the melatonin was canceling the benefit of my diuretic and causing restricted blood flow; hence, the edema.
I would recommend that anyyone taking MidNite do their own research or talk to their physician regarding any possible drug interactions with MidNite.

But, I was tired (no pun intended) of tossing and turning, and didn't want to use prescription pills to get to sleep. This stuff actually works! It says to take 2 pills before you want to sleep, but I usually take 1. I only take it when I can't sleep, so I'm already in bed, but it works pretty quick. I not only fall asleep quickly, but do not wake up during the night. When I wake up, I don't feel groggy or hungover, like I thought I would. By the way, I rarely write reviews, but I saw a few negative reviews on amazon and thought I'd share mine. I don't know if it works for everyone, but it's pretty cheap here so it's worth a shot.

I've used this since I was in a burn ward thirty years ago. I had 20% totla body burns and it kept me from infection over several months until the grafts totally healed. The solution is about 1/4 of the price of the skin cleanser and ideal for soaks, whether it be baths or just the affected part of the body (esp. good for surface infections like staph infections)

(More customer reviews)I had a major event coming up in August of 2007 so I started looking for something that would help my nerves. Instead of going to the store (the logical choice), I did an internet search and found Seredyn.
I took Seredyn for that event and it seemed to work because I wasn't nervous on the supplement, just calm and a little agitated (the anxiety).
I didn't take Seredyn again because, in all honesty, I forgot about it. I instead went to the doctor and got a prescription for Klonopin. I only needed Klonopin's affects for an hour. Klonopin numbed me for an hour, then gave me a hangover for 5 days. I couldn't function like that so I started looking for supplements again.
This time, I went to the store and found something called True Calm so now I have something to compare Seredyn to.
Seredyn calms you, but the underlying anxiety and panic are still there. I would wake up in the middle of the night stressed (on Seredyn) yet it had me so sleepy that I didn't even feel like going to work. Thus, I was calm and stressed at the same time. (Another reviewer had the same experience)
True Calm by Now just calms you and seems to also erase some of the anxiety without numbing you. I can't recommend True Calm because I haven't taken it but 3 times, but I did like its feeling over Seredyn.

Nothing helped. A therapist/friend told me about the NightWave, and I gave it a try even though I didn't have much hope left.
When I turned on the NightWave that first night, I watched its soft, blue light reflecting on my ceiling. As the light grew larger and smaller, I felt my breathing start to calm down and my eyes getting sleepy. I dozed off - but woke up again after a few minutes. It didn't seem to be working for me, but I gave it one more try. I turned it on again - and again watched the calming blue light grow large and small and felt my breathing fall into the same easy rhythm. Next thing I knew; it was morning! I'd had my first good night's sleep in months.
After three weeks of peaceful nights, it felt like my body's rhythms were reset.
When my granddaughter came to visit us, she was nervous that first night and had trouble settling down. I turned on my soft, blue light for her, and we both relaxed and fell asleep.
Now that I'm sleeping again, I've had enough energy left over to pursue a lifelong dream. I've writen a series of books for other grandparents to read to their grandchildren. Someday (soon) I hope to have those books here on Amazon.com too.

Then I tried the Brez devices. It works! However, I have had to modify its use.
I have to insert it vertically and not horizontally in the left nostril. It took me a month this way to get used to it...but it works.
I highly recommend it.

The friend said they worked for him & there was no lethargy the next morning. Husband used them several times with success. I am skeptical of such products, but experienced similar trouble recently & used the product, expecting little. Was pleasantly surprised - fell asleep within an hour, slept the night through with no tiredness the next morning. Ordered a couple of bottles to get free shipping & have used them as needed with continued success. If one suffers from constant insomnia I'm not sure this is the solution, but for occasional sleep problems, definitely worth trying.

Nature Made Liquid Softgel Sleep Natural Sleep Aid, 30-Count Review

(More customer reviews)I've had an Ambien prescription for a year or so now, but lately it has been effective at initially knocking me out for the night but still has me waking up about 1am unable to get back to sleep. Not good. After fighting it for a month I got a recommendation to look at a couple of the OTC offerings. A friend mentioned Alteril, but in looking into the main ingredient on that I was uncomfortable with some of the potential side effects. When I visited my local store to look at the Alteril I found the Nature Made "Sleep" on the shelf next to it and checked out some of the reviews.
The reviews were mixed - some people swearing by it, others saying it was completely ineffective. My own experience was this - the first night I took it I DID notice a calming, sedating effect, but while it also initially knocked me out I still woke up about 1am and was unable to get a restful night's sleep. But I was still obviously calmer and felt like I needed to get back to sleep - just couldn't.
Having read lots of reviews where people said "stick with it - it can take a few doses over a few days" to work, I tried again the next day. And that was apparently the ticket. I woke the next morning with the first restful night's sleep I'd had in over a month. Didn't feel even slightly groggy, like happens with a lot of the benadryl-like OTC sleep meds. Just rested - really rested for the first time in ages.
I've shoved my Ambien in a drawer and now use this exclusively when I need to sleep or am having enough going on that it's hard to quiet my thoughts at night and get a good sleep. I highly recommend this, but you may need to give it a few nights for it to kick in effectively. I don't know why that is - it just is. I like having a natural alternative without worrying about either side effects or dependence.
(UPDATE a few months later): After about a month or so I found Sleep not working as well as it did initially. I looked a little harder at the ingredients and discovered the Melatonin portion of this sleep gel is VERY slight - only 1.5 mg. I supplemented the Melatonin (up to 10 mg for me, though of course effective addition will vary person to person) and now several months later that still seems to be doing the trick.
I did read someone online who suggested the two main ingredients, Melatonin and L-Theanine, could be obtained more cheaply by buying them separately. At least for me I have NOT found that to be true, particularly in the case of the l-theanine - I found it difficult to locate and expensive - a 30 day supply cost more than the Nature Made Sleep did. I also want to add that the L-Theanine has been a remarkable, surprising PLUS to this formula. Research it online, but it's basically an OTC anti-anxiety med, which for someone like me whose sleep troubles are largely caused by an inability to "turn off my head" at night, it's been a godsend. I was very surprised at how effective the Theanine has been at turning that off.

Even taking 2 more tablets upon waking was not effective for me. I think the Boiron for stress helps equally for initiating sleep. I've tried melatonin, valarian root, benedryl, sleepy time tea, etc. and all aid in getting one to sleep but not maintaining sleep.Any suggestions??
