Luden's Sugar Free Wild Cherry cough drops are a surprisingly soothing and tasty delight that not only surpasses the taste of comparable cough drops, but also serves its purpose rather well. Like most other sugar free cough drops, the main active ingredient in Luden's SFWC is Pectin. Admittedly, Pectin is not nearly as strong as Menthol in terms of fast-acting relief, but it provides a small amount of relief over a longer period of time. Cough drops that contain doses of menthol in them tend to pack a punch, but they tend to be displeasing to the taste buds. So if you're looking for minor relief for a scratchy throat or a persistent dry cough, Pectin's a very suitable remedy. As for the Wild Cherry flavor, the drops truly do taste as delightful as they look. I recall looking at the package and thinking to myself that the drops couldn't possibly taste as good as they appeared. The drops look like a bright ruby red hard candy, minus the sugar and unnecessary calories. I tend to enjoy these whether I have the need for them or not; and unless any new studies regarding Pectin's safety have emerged over the course of the last few years, it is entirely safe to enjoy these whether you're "wanting" them or "needing" them. Luden's tends to be a better value than its leading competitors (Halls, Ricola, et al) in terms of the quantity, quality, and pricing of their respective cough suppressants. So go ahead and give them a try; you really don't have much to lose (other than that pesky cough of yours of course!).
