(More customer reviews)OK, so it's my fault. I purchased this book to help my brother in his search for grad schools. He started to notice that the programs' websites didn't match up with what was written in the book. Finally, we saw that the book was published in 1998! In terms of graduate programs, that can be a lifetime. Many programs listed in this book no longer exist, whereas there are many newer programs that are not included. I believe there are now NINE editions of this book. Do not waste your time buying the fifth edition!

I've read my Weick, my Mumby, my Deetz, my Jablin, my Putnam & my Poole. While I would never suggest that anyone ever forgo reading primary sources, who can argue that sometimes we just lack the time to read everything we would like to? That is where this book comes in.
This Eisenberg & Goodall book is not just an average review of the major concepts, themes and theories in organizational communication. It covers the concepts of org comm in more detail than most texts do. The authors also are very aware of the changes and challenges to organizations in the contemporary world, and included excellent chapters on globalization, outsourcing, etc.
Finally, Eisenberg & Goodall wrote this text interactively. It is the most dialogical of all the org comm texts I've read. This stimulates not just the memorization of fact, but deep-rooted thinking and contemplation.
If you do not know where to start when you look at the expansive landscape of organizational communication, this is THE place to start. After a thorough reflective reading of Eisenberg and Goodall, you will definately have a firm foundation to read the primary sources you want.

Much has been written on airborne and airmobile warfare from a First World perspective, but very little has been written from Africa's. The African-and especially southern African-operational theatres posed unique challenges. The lack of infrastructure, the lack of key points to attack, as well as the lack of mobility facing conventionally mounted forces and their subsequent inability to respond rapidly over the types of distances inherent in most African operational theatres, all played a role in the development of a uniquely African approach to this type of warfare. France's experiences in Algeria and the birth of the helicopter ‘gunship' and its associated tactics led the way. Foremost among the forces operating in subsequent theatres were the Portuguese, Rhodesians and South Africans during their various counter-insurgency (COIN) campaigns, with the helicopter playing a pivotal role with its mobility, firepower and shock effect. This book studies the role played by their airborne and airmobile forces during these campaigns as well as their equipment, doctrine and tactics. While it is safe to say that the advent of rotary-winged aircraft had a seminal impact on modern warfare, it had an even greater effect on the COIN battlefield. Combining both the advantages of the glider (concentration of force upon landing) and the parachute (vertical descent) and having none of their disadvantages, it changed the face of vertical envelopment overnight.

Reading Miscue Inventory: From Evaluation To Instruction Review

(More customer reviews)This text is an invaluable resource for those learning about the reading process and miscue analysis. I use it in my Reading Practicum class. The students read chapters, place stop and jot sticky notes on certain pages where they have questions, or comments, or ideas, and then bring those notes to class for discussion. Most of them have just completed their first miscue analysis with their reading partners. I was very happy (and relieved) to see how well they had picked up on the procedure and then the marking of the typescripts. I credit the text, with its clear explanations (lots of sticky notes on one page that say "What??" and then followed a page or two later with "OH...I get it now!") and examples and checklists. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester!

(More customer reviews)This is one heavy brick of a book! From page one Albert Pike leads us through the 33 degrees of The Ancient and Scottish Rite, theoretically. The rituals themselves are not described, the book functions as a sort of theory injection to the rituals. "Morals and Dogma" is the Magnum Opus of Albert Pike, written exclusively for Scottish Rite masons, but other mason will enjoy this book too, I would say that anyone with any interest in history, philosophy, ethics and esotericism will find this extremely helpful.
Albert Pike shows through this book how Freemasonry consists of several religions, not only one. He takes us through the similiarities in all religions, and tries to find the true essence in all of them. This will be helpful for christian masons who think that Freemasonry only is about Jesus and Hiram Abiff. Pike shows us that the Order has a lot of its history and symbolism from Zoroaster and the Indo Aryans, worshippers of Fire and Light.
From the ethical, simple working tools of the Blue Lodge, to the christian ethics and mysticism of the Chapter of Rosy Cross, to the Aryan and Parsee worshipping of Light, which the Templars continued from the essenees and the Zoroastrians, this books leads the reader through darkness and light, laughter and bafflement, to education and deep thought, dicipline.
A non-mason will also enjoy this book, filled with speculations and facts about the religions that affect the world so much. I recommend this book so much and whole heartedly that I am out of words now. Enjoy .:.

(More customer reviews)This book is well known to Masons, especially Scottish Rite Masons, since Brother Pike was the driving force behind developing the Scottish Rite, if that accolade can be pinned to one person. As a Scottish Rite Mason, I bought a 1929 hardback edition partly for its historic and sentimental value, and I don't regret it. Be cautioned, however, that this is no easy read. In addition to being a very large book, it is written in a style that today looks archaic and cumbersome. But the great wealth of Masonic information here easily overshadows that caveat, especially if you plan to use it as a reference rather than to sit down and plow through it cover-to-cover. It is highly recommended as a gift to a new 32nd degree Mason or anyone else who seeks an understanding of what the Scottish Rite has to offer.

SYSTANE LUB EYE NIGHTTIME OINT Review

(More customer reviews)My eyes are so dry that in the winter I have to use ointments at night. I have tried this one, Refresh and Genteal and I prefer the Systane. It has the highest concentration of petrolatum and is lower in mineral oil--in other words it is quite heavy, but it works. In the morning my eyes are still comfortable.
As is the case with all of the ointments you are paying $10+ for glorified Vaseline, but since the product needs to be sterile, I don't think there is much choice. This is a messy product, but if you pull the lower rim of your eye out to the side and blink a few times it covers the eye fairly evenly.
One word of caution--don't even think about doing anything that would require clear vision for a while after using an eye ointment! It is like trying to see through extremely dense fog until some of the product is absorbed. I also noticed Systane has a small amount of lanolin, so if you are allergic to it you might want to try another one of the ointments.
