(More customer reviews)I recently purchased Apex Pocket Med Pack with 7 Day Tray for my daily pills, and needed to find something for my emergency pills. After looking at several other boxes, some in a reasonable price range and some very much not, I settled on this one. I just received it in the mail today...
It is absolutely beautiful, especially for a pill box. It feels sturdy all around and is quite heavy. The medallion is a metallic gray-blue enamel, the innermost design a lighter and more greenish shade. there are small dots in the pattern that - from far away - look like tiny crystals. On much, much closer inspection (about an inch from my face) they appear to be made of bits of silver glitter. They catch the light so well, that they are easily mistaken for tiny crystals.
The medallion is covered in a thick protective coat of what looks and feels like a scratch-resistant material that feels like is also thinly applied to the rest of the box. The latch is somewhat hard to depress, but this adds assurance that it will not pop open in a purse. the mirror inside was a nice touch.
This is quite a nice pillbox. I'm sure this box could be used to carry your favorite shade of eyeshadow, or a small tub of tinted lip balm when not being used for medication.

(More customer reviews)Immediately after purchase, the edges of the plastic lids for the daily dose containers began disintegrating. Small pieces of plastic were mixed in with the medications. I'm young and have good eyesight so I caught the problem before my parents took their medications. An older person with poor eyesight wouldn't catch the problem and would likely swallow pieces of plastic along with their medications. This product is unsafe and should be taken off the market. Much better and safer medication planners are available at a much better price.

7 Day Pill Box Organizer 2 Compartment Blue Tray- Made in the Usa Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this blue compartment tray set as well as the larger clear compartment tray organizer set. Since my husband and I take several meds/vitamins daily, and some are rather large, I wanted to make sure I had an organizer that can easily hold all. Much to my surprise, these organizers are very nicely made and the lids click shut and are very secure, so you shouldn't have any surprise openings, especially if packed for a trip.
The clear tray set stated "deep" compartments, but they are HUGE!!!! You have enough room to fit perhaps 5 large fish oil pills in each compartment, plus vitamins, and more. For some, it may be too large for travel, but due to the size is easier to grasp to open for those experiencing weakness in the hands due to arthritis or carpal tunnel. I prefer the blue tray organizer as far as size. I take several meds daily to include the large fish oil, multivitamin, calcium, and several smaller-sized meds...and they fit very nicely in the compartments with room to spare. When I first had the meds in the clear tray organizer set, there was enough room for 2-times MORE.
I highly recommend these organizers...quality is good and size is great. I ordered through Amazon.com and turn-around time for delivery was just as promised...around 1 week.

Pill Box Twice-a-day Weekly Organizer - Blue and Yellow Review

(More customer reviews)Alright, these twice daily pill boxes are harder to find than they should be. So you're kind of stuck with whatever you find, but there are good things and bad about this box.
Pros:
Two different colors; makes it harder to mess up your AM and PM.
Durable plastic; have been using it for over a year and no problems.
Large; bigger than you expect, hold many pills including those big ones.
Cons:
Look closely, the PM days go from right to left. This seems backwards to me, it's oppisite of how we read and also from the AM side. This has taken A LOT of getting used to and caused frequent problems. I still forget sometimes.
Writing fades. I guess this happens with every case though.All that said, I'm still using it because I can't find anything else to acomidate my pills (usually at least 5 each dose, two of which are large). I think at this point if I found one that went the "right" way, I'd probably have an even harder time remembering.
Update:
One of the doors has finally started to fall off. I have it held on now by a couple of pieces of athletic tape. So with daily use, mine lasted about a year and a half.

I can fit 33 (thirty-three) ecotrin in one of the slots. By contrast, I can fit only 13 ecotrin in a slot of the small size. I like using different colors for different weeks or one for daytime, one for nighttime.

(More customer reviews)The design works very well; when you push the bump on the front, the lid pops up, as they say. It also gives your fingertip a recessed place to slide when you scoop out the pills. Replaced one with square bins that was a pain to use.
The bins are a tad deeper than I currently need, but it seemed like all the rest available were really huge. This one would fit reasonably into a front pants pocket, if necessary.

(More customer reviews)I ordered two, I got four organizers. If the description says it's a two-pack I've missed it, but hey, this is a good thing!
This is better quality than the organizer I bought at the local pharmacy. It's not oversized, but it holds a lot of large pills. The locks are good for when I travel, so it doesn't come open in my suitcase. They're not too difficult to open--gently push on the rounded front of the day's compartment and the lid pops open.
My organizers are blue, and while they don't look too dark, it's a little difficult to see into a closed compartment. I didn't think that was a problem until I picked up an empty organizer and it rattled. I'd missed a pill one day and didn't see it in the case. If you're better than me at paying attention to what you're doing, it shouldn't be a problem.
10/10/10 update: I spilled a little water on this organizer (yeah, I'm clumsy sometimes,) and it did not keep the water out of the compartments. I've been taking nasty melted pills since then. I'm not complaining--the description says nothing about protection from moisture--but if you're clumsy too you might want to store these out of the way.

MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased the MedReady for my 81 year old Mom who lives alone and wants to stay independently living for as long as possible. She had begun having days when she was confused and not sure if she had taken her pills or not. We first tried the plastic pill containers with Sunday through Saturday on them, but she became confused then over what day it was and which 'S' was for which day and which 'T' was for which day as well. Then she began needing pills morning and evening. The MedReady dispenser has been a life saver. It is set now so that she gets her morning, afternoon and evening pills without me having to drive 20 miles round trip to make sure Mom is taking the right pills or calling her to remind her that it's time to take some more medications.
The only challenges we had with it at first was making sure that Mom pushed the 'door' open far enough to reset the spring mechanism that turns off the alarm and sets it for the next turn of the pill tray. It's not difficult to push the door open and takes no strength to do so, you just have to push it up far enough. Once Mom got that down though, she loved it and even told us that she is very happy with her 'pill thingy' :) It's not so loud that the neighbors hear it, but it is loud enough to get her attention no matter where she is in the house. If you or your parents are forgetting when to take their meds, this will certainly aid in that!!
