We bought this for an older family member who has been experiencing some mild memory loss. I just load her medications and she is set for a full month. This is a wonderful product that has given our family needed peace of mind.
I myself am a very busy mom of two young children. I purchased one of these for myself. With a simple push of a button I get all my daily medications and vitamins. What a terrific time saver!!!

My main criticism of this product is that the clasps keeping each compartment closed are really tough to open. It's a good thing, too, however, since the compartments won't pop open as a previous smaller "bubble" version did.

Pill Box Twice-a-day Weekly Organizer - Blue and Yellow Review

(More customer reviews)Alright, these twice daily pill boxes are harder to find than they should be. So you're kind of stuck with whatever you find, but there are good things and bad about this box.
Pros:
Two different colors; makes it harder to mess up your AM and PM.
Durable plastic; have been using it for over a year and no problems.
Large; bigger than you expect, hold many pills including those big ones.
Cons:
Look closely, the PM days go from right to left. This seems backwards to me, it's oppisite of how we read and also from the AM side. This has taken A LOT of getting used to and caused frequent problems. I still forget sometimes.
Writing fades. I guess this happens with every case though.All that said, I'm still using it because I can't find anything else to acomidate my pills (usually at least 5 each dose, two of which are large). I think at this point if I found one that went the "right" way, I'd probably have an even harder time remembering.
Update:
One of the doors has finally started to fall off. I have it held on now by a couple of pieces of athletic tape. So with daily use, mine lasted about a year and a half.

(More customer reviews)This brand of pill organizer is great; they lock well, yet open easily. They are roomy without taking up too much room. However, note that this one, the LARGE, is really large. I can fit 33 (thirty-three) ecotrin in one of the slots. By contrast, I can fit only 13 ecotrin in a slot of the small size. I like using different colors for different weeks or one for daytime, one for nighttime.

Ezy Dose Small 7-Day Push 'n Pop Pill Reminder Review

(More customer reviews)The design works very well; when you push the bump on the front, the lid pops up, as they say. It also gives your fingertip a recessed place to slide when you scoop out the pills. Replaced one with square bins that was a pain to use.
The bins are a tad deeper than I currently need, but it seemed like all the rest available were really huge. This one would fit reasonably into a front pants pocket, if necessary.

MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased the MedReady for my 81 year old Mom who lives alone and wants to stay independently living for as long as possible. She had begun having days when she was confused and not sure if she had taken her pills or not. We first tried the plastic pill containers with Sunday through Saturday on them, but she became confused then over what day it was and which 'S' was for which day and which 'T' was for which day as well. Then she began needing pills morning and evening. The MedReady dispenser has been a life saver. It is set now so that she gets her morning, afternoon and evening pills without me having to drive 20 miles round trip to make sure Mom is taking the right pills or calling her to remind her that it's time to take some more medications.
The only challenges we had with it at first was making sure that Mom pushed the 'door' open far enough to reset the spring mechanism that turns off the alarm and sets it for the next turn of the pill tray. It's not difficult to push the door open and takes no strength to do so, you just have to push it up far enough. Once Mom got that down though, she loved it and even told us that she is very happy with her 'pill thingy' :) It's not so loud that the neighbors hear it, but it is loud enough to get her attention no matter where she is in the house. If you or your parents are forgetting when to take their meds, this will certainly aid in that!!

I couldn't remember if I had taken them already or not, so I missed a lot of doses because I was afraid to overdose. I bought this unit three months ago, and I haven't missed a dose since. The audio reminder will repeat until you press the acknowledge button, in short increments. If you happen to be away when a dose is due, it will still remind you when you return. It's very persistant! Also loud enough for someone that is hard of hearing. I use the lowest volume, and it's loud enough. I also like that since I fill a months worth at a time, I am aware ahead of time if I need to renew a prescription.
It's pricey, but worth every penny! If you have an older family member that needs help remembering this product is perfect!

Most of mine are very large so I need an extra pill box. The ability to carry water or juice is the best part. No more having to stop whatever your doing to go find a drink.Hint: If you place one of the chemical ice cubes (1/2 inch x 1/2 usually found in camping or fishing equipment and supplies) in with your meds the water will stay cool for hours.
You can also slip the unit into a small baggy, add several chemical ice cubes to the baggy and your liquid will stay down right cold for a long time, this is great for keeping juices cold.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my mother who has the early stages of Alzheimers. She had been double dosing her meds or not taking them and now with the MedReady Automatic Medication dispenser she's back on track! Because my mother only has to take pills twice a day that allows me to to put 14 days worth of pills in the dispenser. Setting the dispensing time is just like setting an alarm clock-super easy! The alarm is loud but mom still has trouble hearing it if she's 2 rooms away with the TV on. It comes with 2 keys and when you place the key inside the lock & open it the key stays in the lock so it doesn't get lost. It runs on AC power but has a back up battery if the power should go out.
Along with this item I also purchased a 2nd pill tray so that I could just easily swap out the trays inside the dispenser. The spare tray comes with a clear snap on lid so your pills stay in place where they should be.

My mom does not like anything that you really have to "figure out" so I was a little leary about sending it to her without me figuring it out first and then sending it to her (I live in Seattle and she lives in St. Joseph, Missouri). But I was pleasantly surprised that when she received it, she figured it out herself. This has been so nice for her to have, she had been having a lot of trouble remembering to take her afternoon and evening pills but now, with this vibrating pill box, she has hardly missed a dosage. I gave it five stars because it was easy for her to set up by herself, it's been constant and has had no problems. It also takes a lot of worry off my shoulders that she has not been taking the medicine the way she should, so I know if she has this with her that she will take it 98% of the time. Of course she takes so many pills that they would not fit in the pill compartment but she just keeps her big pill dispenser with it all the times. It's great to have, especially for the senior in your life that might be having some memory problems OR even the extremely busy person that needs to take an afternoon or evening pill and keeps forgetting - I plan to order one for myself just for that reason.

(More customer reviews)I tried a couple other CHEAPER pill reminders, all but failed over time. I like that fact it takes regular cheap AA Alkaline batteries than specialty batteries. Variable alarm/beep (4) settings or no alarm. Flip the Volume button for louder if you prefer. Normal setting was plenty LOUD for me. :) The female voice is an added bonus...hehe. She reminds me and then keeps on reminding UNTIL I TAKE THE PILLS, click it once, then she tells me my next Pill reminder Alarm/Time if set. The Screen lights up for low room lighting-schweet! Dropped it like 10 times since having a nervous condition and IT WORKED JUST FINE!

Medi-Chest - Pill Organizer Dispenser Planner by Apex Healthcare Products Review

(More customer reviews)As of 2009, after 4 years of testing, I continue to prefer the LARGE Medi-Chest. Nothing has broken on any of the 5 units and the removable daily case is great for making day trips or going out hunting, fishing, canoing, or golfing.
These have met the test! They still snap shut tightly and no compartments have lost their tops due to stress fatigue from opening and closing them.
Just as importantly, I can carry my plethora of cardiac, kidney, prostate and arthritis medications in one daily container when I go golfing, fishing, hunting or canoing. If a compartment does just happen to open, it sure beats trying to pick up a week's worth of meds from the golf course and put them back in the right compartments!
2009 NOTE: I ordered two more units FROM AMAZON so we can travel more than a month at a time.
