Launching Points : 50 Careers That Don't Require A Four-Year College Degree Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)In today's economy this is the book we have been waiting on! It is straight forward and loaded with current and relevant information. As I read the book and looked back over my career, I realize that Mr. Happe is right on with his points regarding major business men and women successes that didn't have a college degree.
While the discussion regarding "degree or no degree" makes for a interesting debate, this book equips people now that have been dumped by our economy back into the work place, on their efforts to transition their careers. This book should be one that everyone looking at the economy and career change should buy simply as a current guideline for their next move.
Overall it is a simple read with quality information, get a copy as it will help guide us all through these difficult times!!

College is the not right choice for everyone. It wasn't for Bill Gates, who dropped out of college with Paul Allen to launch Microsoft. It wasn't for Karl Rove, who was the Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush. College wasn't the right path for Rush Limbaugh, Tyra Banks, or Simon Cowell. It wasn't the right place for Richard Branson, Henry Ford, or Ray Crock (the founder of McDonalds), together with 572 people listed in Launching Points who changed the world with no college degree. College may not be the right place... for you.Launching Points profiles fifty careers that don't require a four year college degree. It's packed with insights on job descriptions, salary data and tips on jump starting each career path. It's not exhaustive, but intentionally short so that you can read it quickly, get some ideas, and start planning the direction YOU want to go in. It was written for the high school student in search of ideas on alternatives to college (and college debt). It was written for the nearly 50% of enrolled college freshman nationwide that drop out before they ever earn a diploma. It was written for the experienced job seeker in need of some encouragement and a new perspective on the job market. It was written for you. Use it to help discover your Launching Points.
