(More customer reviews)After visiting Italy for the first time, and falling in love with Venice, I wanted to find a coffee table book that captured my memories of such a magical city. I looked at several books, but this is the only one that gave me pictures of the scenes I remember -- the secret alleyways of the city that lead to gorgeous pockets of beauty, like a hidden courtyard, or flowers spilling off a trellis, viewed from a bridge. Not too text-heavy, this is a must-own for any Venice-phile.

Venice is one of the most attractive and photogenic cities in the world, remembered fondly by its millions of visitors. Venice 360 captures the unique splendor and charm of the city perfectly. In a spectacular series of photographs, many taken with the same rotating camera that produced the images seen in New York 360, the book travels the city and its environs, recording it all in beautifully reproduced images. There are fifty-six photographs in all. Most are double-page spreads, but there are some even larger in scale: panoramic shots of squares and bridges and views across the canals that pull out into spectacular three-, four-, and even six-page spreads of Venice's most memorable sights, such as the Grand Canal, the Piazza from St. Mark's, and the Bridge of Sighs. Each picture is accompanied by an explanatory caption giving artistic and historical context to the shot. Scattered throughout the book are line drawings of some of the architectural details of Venice's great buildings, sculptures, statues and gargoyles.Venice 360 is an extravagant celebration of the city and an ideal gift book.
